Having been in the industry a long time I think I can say the grass on the other side is overrated.....ask a Airways pilot how long their grievance list is....."fly now grieve later"....

I think we are dealing with semantics. Yes, allegiant will be a better place with a contract. Will it be a "great place to work"? Some may disagree, but I don't see allegiant ever being a great place to work with our management. Companies with Balanced, or employee – centered cultures are great places to work. Allegiant is a soul sucking, profit at all cost company that has no soul. Even a great contract doesn't stop you from operating airplanes that are chronically under maintained and working without resources and support.

The shareholders do not want to hear anything about that.

That must reflect more on the 80 side of things. The Airbus doesn't have many MEL or MX issues.

I'm not on the bus, but that's contrary to what I'm hearing. Either way, any reliability you're experiencing is due to the aircraft itself, not some dramatic shift in Mx culture from one fleet to the next.

It's on all fleets. The safety culture here is nonexistent. Read the TAMC reports...its deplorable. What does it say when numerous pilots won't put their family and friends on our planes? That's part of the top down culture change that needs to happen.

I can't speak for the airbus, but I know the same thing was said about the 757s before Allegiant had time to run them into the dirt because of inadequate maintenance. It goes beyond maintenance though. All support elements, including training, dispatch, manuals, scheduling, ramp, customer service are all horribly underfunded and experience crazy turnover because of crappy pay and frustration. Pilots will deal with that, facing certificate action, every day, contract or not.

I beg to differ. I'm on RSV for the 80 and I can't tell you how many times I've been called out for a rescue because an Airbus broke down.

Obviously you haven't been flying in the same Airbus that I have. There's one in particular that had the same MEL on and off and on again for several months. Of course, maintenance "fixed it" all the time, but somehow the same exact thing broke on the very next flight. Curious.....

That's because they didn't but any spare parts for the Airbus, except for a few lightbulbs. Also, the MEL on the Bus is much more restrictive than the 80. There are some things that you can't fly with if it's on MEL.
