My thoughts exactly. First airline ever (that I'm aware of) that'll have to JA people to upgrade.

Ever since they took Integrity out of the core values, this place hasn't been the same.

That's sad if true.

Can anyone answer some basic questions.

1. Is there an aircraft lock? I.e. hired onto the 80 then 6 months later there is a vacancy on the Bus, can you make the switch?

2. How long is it taking to upgrade these days?

3. Understand anything west will take years to get to. But what is the junior west base? Any timeframe closer than just a blanket "years" to hold the junior west base? And how often can you change bases?

4. I have seen several articles stating more Airbus aircraft are coming. Are these aircraft replacements or growth?

5. For guys getting calls to interview. How long is it normally taking from app to first contact?

I've read through all of the threads on here about Allegiant but could not find answers to these.

Thanks

There is an aircraft lock, and it is typically two years. Although, they waive that when they want to.

The upgrade is hard to pin down. Until recently, it had been running at about 6 years. Now, it's down to 3-4, but I'm hearing some of those people are really regretting their decision now they are junior and on reserve. A lot of people that are able to upgrade now are bypassing it because they don't want to be on reserve or on TDY for 17 months.

The junior base on the West Coast for FO's is LAS. I think a couple people got it a few months ago from one of the new hire classes. You can change bases as often as you want as long as there are openings there. It's hard to know when and where the openings are, because we don't normally have the normal vacancy bids like other "airlines" do.

As for the answer to the Airbus, that would be "yes." I don't believe the company has really said if they are growth or replacement, but the ones that are being operated now were mostly replacement.

Your last question, I have no idea to that answer.

So can one put in a standing bid? Something that states you want xyz base and when you can hold it, award it?

Maybe a better question is, how does bidding for bases work at Allegiant? If you have the time to explain..

1. Answered
2. The latest and greatest is Aug 2013 upgrades.
3. LAS, 1 month on the line(12/13), right out of class in Jan or May class? You'll be TDY'd though..
4. Addition. From what I've read. 53 MD80s through 2018; the Bus is additional.
5. Too fluid to tell. Timing is everything.

There is a standing bid where you list the aircraft/seat/base in the order that you want them. They are supposed to go in seniority order when they award openings. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. The person that is (or maybe was) in charge of doing the bid bid awards just couldn't seem to get it right without having at least two or three revisions to the award.

Sometimes they also award openings when there are no official openings, and sometimes they don't award openings when there are openings. Hopefully the contract negotiations can put some language together to straighten out the whole process.
