And they still do a great job making you work the day before and after your vacation when on tdy.
I'm not in the homeless base, so I don't know what changes they have made to that. All I know is, in the past, they skipped people for TDY that had vacation. They either couldn't, or wouldn't, figure out how to handle it. That was several months ago.

Maybe they finally figured that out, who knows.

The TDY is avoided if you have vacation bid since around a year ago when a LAS captain bid FLL TDY and had two weeks of vacation in the middle of it. Then, like always, there was a rule change behind closed doors not to make that mistake again.

Mind you it wasn't the LAS captain's fault, it was the fault of a company with zero reserves or backup plans.

APC says DOH for junior captain is Dec 2014. Is it normal for the company to direct hire captains? With what qualifications? What the normal expectation for upgrade?

my crew pay sheet was only off by -9.81 hours this month, much better than the near -20 last month. I feel like I should get an override for doing their job too. Last month it took two weeks to get my missing pay. That will not happen again this month. So f-ing irritating!!!

Think about how much money they're saving by not paying those who DON'T check their pay reports. File a complaint with your state's Department of Labor. Every month I have to remind myself that it's 2015. Not automating payroll seems like a 1970's problem.

I'm starting to wonder if a contract is really going to happen this year.

If it doesn't, you will see those who are taking the "wait and see" approach actually pull the trigger and leave for a better life. The pilot seniority list will become a revolving door made up of those who just want to get a little jet time, a type rating, and move on. Poor morale, inexperienced crewmembers, and the usual lackluster investment in safety and infrastructure will lead to a catastrophic event.

NOTHING about the current working conditions here is tolerable or acceptable long-term. Also, management will NEVER agree to a contract unless they are forced to do so by either the threat or an actual job action. Combine those two, and it can be seen that something HAS to happen this year or it will be sayonara for this pilot group.

That's exactly the problem. Scumbag managers like this have a tendency to suck every last golden egg out of the goose, kill it then start up another goose.

The only people who get hosed are the employees.
