On the other side of the coin, I'd ask around the squadron about the availability of SPECAC and additional drills. If you're the NATOPS guy at the unit, you already have (by billet) as many additional drills as the law allows. NATOPS guys usually have the luxury of unlimited SPECAC (I did) because the squadron needs you to give Instrument and NATOPS checks.

If you're just an average Joe, you may find your access to SPECAC limited due to budgetary concerns.

With all the airline hiring going on, with your quals, you don't have to jump on the first bandwagon that comes around. Especially if it even has the remotest possibility of putting your career in an untenable position.

Think about it...scab or a termination on you PRIA. Do you really want to be in that position?

P.S. Just reread the thread...You have a CJO from DAL? Are you nuts? Why would you even talk to Allegiant?

It must have been a while and things have changed since you were in....we don't have TAR any longer...we have FTS as well as options for many types of orders...ADSW, Drills, ect... People can and do drop mil as they see fit...and don't have to "get approval" from their airline...now if the airline want's to see proof of the Military work...then official paperwork must be submitted or they can receive adverse reaction...

There would be no reason to tell any upcoming interviews about any other job prospects. So someone has a CJO, what if they quit hiring?

Unfortunately THIS IS the underworld of airline aviation. A recurring theme among many threads on the internet where "my airline is better than yours", "you're an idiot", etc. etc. Might as well get used to it. You just have to dig thru all the trash to find the nuggets of truth thats available out there. Having said that, I think if you join an airline that goes on strike, you need to support the picket line rather than run off on orders "so you dont look bad to the company" while others do the heavy lifting. We already have the few "no" voters who plan on going on FMLA so they have an excuse for the company why they cant fly. Grown men need to grow a backbone for crying out loud.
Good luck! And thank you for your service!

Give him a break. He doesn't realize that his need "to support his family" grates on the guys who don't have that option. He has no experience in the Union arena.

That's just craven. That's also exactly the point I was making about walking the walk if you're going to talk the talk.

To repeat the example, try to find anyone who voted for a concessionary contract even if it passed by 85%.

It's possible, but not likely. It's just perplexing when someone is holding a winning lottery ticket and then they choose to panhandle.

Hey guys.
Few questions if you don't mind. I've been to 2 job fairs but the face time is so limited that figured I'd just try to get some answers here. So if I may:

1. Can you please describe a typical work day's schedule? More specifically in the Florida bases. (I figure it's mostly 2 leg days, 8-10 hour duty)

2. Same question as #1 but for the month? For reserve and line holders.

3. Is there an ability to improve your schedule by trading with open time or other crew members?

4. How are the travel benefits? Do you get a designated pass rider or any buddy passes?

5. Most important of all. Is there coffee on board and is in any good?

Thank you in advance.

About right.

Reserve 10-11 days off
Lineholders 11+ days off with reserve intermixed in your schedule

3. Is there an ability to improve your schedule by trading with open time or other crew members? Yes and yes. But the days off are so limited you may find it hard to do so with the computer or somebody else.

4. How are the travel benefits? Do you get a designated pass rider or any buddy passes?
You get 20 one-way passes to offer for $25 plus taxes each (Hawaii $50) Standard ZED fares for most airlines you have never heard of, Spirit and JetBlue there are agreements, only legacy agreement is with US Airways.
If you are not married, you can have a "domestic partner"

5. Most important of all. Is there coffee on board and is in any good?
No coffee on board. And if there was Allegiant would probably charge you for it anyways!

Thank you in advance.
see above.......

Thank you CRX for taking the time to answer those. So no united ZED fares? That's kinda of a bummer.

Good luck with negotiations.
