Allegiant Air pilots picket for better pay, benefits

Clearwater, Florida -- Allegiant Air pilots are protesting two years of fruitless negotiations with their airline.

The pilots picketed at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport on Tuesday, saying they want better pay and benefits. They are upset talks with Allegiant have not progressed more over the past two years.

"Our pilots' message is simple," says Dan Wells, President of Teamsters Local 1224. "We need to bring attention to our plight in flight against Allegiant Air management. We seek a contract that will secure the success of our company Allegiant, and our pilots. We seek average wages and job protections that are standard in the airline industry."

As the picketing continues, there is talk of the pilots going on strike, possibly by Friday.

I was hired with less than 3,000 hrs. Turned them down though, mostly due to this thread.

Did those companies have a $150 share price and 700 mil in the bank at the time they were liquidated? I highly doubt that will happen in this case unless there's some Enron-style cooking the books going on.

As for the questions about the new COO, prior to the above he was a career Navy F14 pilot IIRC.

And on top of it all we are being turned down by dickmaster's with sub-3000 hours.

The union should be allowed to mass-blast "allegiant all" to even the propaganda playing field a little.

Wow, he's shut down every flying outfit he's been associated with.... including the F14!

The F-14 shut itself down by being a single trick pony...they were grapes in a close in fight...
