Got the nod, was promised nothing in terms of upgrade, was told now it's 5 years + and it could be longer. I live less than 20 min from IWA and was told to expect a FL base and I should plan to move as schedules are not "Commuter Friendly." Everyone was professional there and very welcoming, HOWEVER, I was never winked at, promised the sky, or anything else. I know a "High Up" as he was my first officer on a 747 a few years ago and was praised by those that worked for him at their previous company (glad I listened to the advice "Never be a jerk to your FO...he/she may be your boss someday), also had a letter from a very senior Allegiant Capt. The idea of chasing down a major airline job for me is about last on my list of things to do, so I probably won't be starting over again in 5 years. I'm not in my 30's with thousands of hours of glass, no CFI, no 4 year degree (yet). I've heard for YEARS speculation of that "Land of Milk and Honey Pilot Shortage just around the corner" and sacrificed a lot for the "Love of flying." I just want to work someplace that isn't paying late, doesn't short my 401k, and doesn't send me to a war torn country on a 18 to 20 hour duty day...or longer (there's no limit to your duty day international). As for Union mention...none initiated by the company, but I did ask and got what seems a pretty honest answer. I hope to just come to work, get along well with people, learn a new airplane, find a safe place for me and my family to live, not worry if I'm going to get paid, and have a lot more time with my family. I get your point when you ask why would someone come here to make $41/hour. After being at my last employer for a long time, I asked people why they want to work for an ACMI spending countless days in hotels on the other side of the planet, fly planes older than them with cargo that can leave a HUGE crater, go into and around countries that hate us... for what that company paid. I guess you never know those answers until you're in their situation. I hope you all will be welcoming to us new-hires and help us learn. Again, this will be something entirely new for me.

Cx4Ynot- Welcome! I enjoy working here, and the crews are all very nice. If you do end up moving to the base you are assigned then you will have a great quality of life. If you go to PGD then you will probably have a line right away, especially if you are fairly senior in your class. If that is the case you will most likely never see a hotel room, or if you do it will be for one or two nights a year.

Again, welcome to Allegiant! Hope to see you on line soon!

Thanks, "clipped." It's nice getting "Welcomes," and I'm looking forward to working with you guys. You'll easily know who I am from my name on here. I think it's going to be a great change of pace for me, "the wife," and my kids! My better half is glad I won't be flying anywhere that has 3 or 4 syllables and ends in "stan."

BlueHen, I hope your number comes up for a call soon!

I was around when my current employer had DC-9s, but never got over to that side(all got parked in the early 2000's) Of the guys still around that flew them have told me I'll really enjoy the MD-80.

From what I've been hearing, it takes a fairly 'healthy' internal rec to get in the door, largely due to lack of hiring. Congrats to those who made it this time around.

FYI: Couple Busted After In-Flight Pleasure Session | The Smoking Gun

AUGUST 8--A couple who allegedly engaged in a series of “lewd, indecent, and obscene” sex acts on a plane bound for Las Vegas are facing federal criminal charges, The Smoking Gun has learned.

According to a complaint filed this week in U.S. District Court, Jessica Stroble, 33, and Christopher Martin began getting frisky after an Allegiant Airlines flight departed Medford, Oregon for Nevada in late-June.

As detailed in the raunchy misdemeanor complaint, a passenger sitting across from the duo on the 90-minute flight observed Stroble “perform oral sex and manually stimulate the genitalia of a male passenger sitting in the window seat next to her.” After the act was completed, the witness watched as Stroble “wiped off her mouth while the male put his penis back inside his pants.”

Stroble, a beauty salon worker, and Martin, a vineyard owner, are pictured in the above Facebook photos.

A second passenger, who reported seeing Martin’s exposed penis, told an FBI agent that the “male passenger had his hand on the back of the female’s neck and ‘was in his own world.'”

After Stroble reportedly cleaned up and Martin’s penis was no longer in the upright and locked position in row 16, fellow passengers reported that the couple resumed the intimate contact. Martin, witnesses told the FBI, placed his hand down Stroble’s pants and began “rubbing it up and down and the female assisted him.”

The duo, however, was not finished.

Following drink and snack service
, Stroble allegedly performed oral sex on Martin for a second time. A passenger who watched the couple in action told a flight attendant, “This is not the sex education I wanted to give my teenage sons," reported FBI Agent James Mollica.

After observing Stroble’s head in Martin’s lap, the airline employee approached the duo and directed them to stop. The flight attendant told an FBI agent that it appeared “based on the movement...the female was giving the male oral sex.”

But even that reprimand was not enough to slow Stroble and Martin.

Two passengers told the FBI that Martin then “pulled the female’s shirt down and began kissing the female’s exposed breast.” The witnesses notified a passing fight attendant, who told the couple to stop (which they finally did).

Upon landing, Stroble and Martin were escorted off the plane and questioned by Las Vegas police. In a complaint filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas, they were charged with engaging in “lewd, indecent, and obscene acts on an airplane." If convicted, Stroble and Martin each face up to 90 days in jail and a fine.

Reached today by a TSG reporter at the Medford beauty salon where she works, Stroble said she was unaware that charges had been filed against her.

After being given a description of the complaint’s allegations, Stroble claimed, “None of that happened.” She declined to expand on the nature of her relationship with Martin, other than to say that they are not married and that she has no contact information for him. (4 pages)
That's fascinating.

I had no idea Allegiant provided a drink and snack service.

That sure brings new meaning to "Inflight entertainment..." for all parties directly and indirectly involved. Was Ken Starr head of the investigation? ;-)
