My question was more about CAs assigned FO trips due to lack of FOs. Thanks for the information. My company is operating with extra CAs & the CAs have FO trips in their lines. Seems odd to me, but Allegiant is a travel co. not an airline.

Most companies I have seen do this, do it opposite. For instance, SWA at one point had Lance CA(I think that's the term). These are FO's who are CA qualified. Same with GoJet and TranStates. It seems Allegiant's case is better, as more CA's are on staff.

Remember after they furloughed in 2008 and premium open time was offered for CA's to pick up FO open time a few summers back?

I flew for an airline that I was qualified captain and FO in two different planes. Not even the same make. The place I work at now has Captains flying in both seats all the time in the same day. One leg cap one leg fo back and forth to make the times work out. It is far cheaper to do this than be properly manned. 20 pilots for 4 planes that take two crews each, each day.
