I wasn't thinking about it before, but now that you mentioned it- I would bet 90% this guy is Velocipede.

Clever retort, but seriously...

What's the corporate culture like? What is the culture of the pilot group like?

Just curious.. do you actually negotiate for your salary at a non-union carrier or do you get what management is willing to pay.. The rest of your diatribe is just that....

Do you mean a union that undercuts the profession like UAL ALPA/ALPA National did with their sell out of their junior pilots and gave away/voted away 3000+ jobs?

Craig

With a union like ALPA, management does not need scabs.

The pilots at Allegiant got a very large raise last year after our in house advisory group negotiated with management. Did management just give us that raise out of goodwill? Would they have done it on their own?

That is a great question. Did they give it to you out of goodwill...? A better question is whether they will take it from you if times get tough. Question for you: Was Allegiant making money when you negotiated this raise? Since you are an "advisory" group, how seriously do you really think that management takes your input? You cannot really threaten a strike, so why would management give you a payraise if they are not making money. I digress though.. my post was more aimed at the other guy that said he could negotiate his own pay scale.. I just wonder how HE does that...

You negotiate your own payrates? How about the guy sitting next to you.. what if he is a better negotiator? You might have a guy throwing gear for you that is making more money... cool.... I guess..

Far be it for me to defend alpa national, but they do not negotiate contracts...

I understand what you're saying... but I think we can also agree that a union contract doesn't mean much either. When times are tough, we've seen what the court system does to those. May take a little more time, but the end result is the same.
