There's only 400k voters in the entire state? Do you honestly think that's a factor in GOP deliberations? When you subtract the ANC voters, that leaves about 150k people in the state who are even marginally effected by the EAS. Oh yeah, that's a program the GOP Congress can cut with minimal political impact.

Of course, it could be a disaster for the folks in the villages, but considering how much the GOP cares for the average person, is this a surprise?

But if EAS is cut off, what will ERA Alaska do? There wont be any more Flying Wild Alaska. Poor Ariel Tweto might have to consider exotic dancing as a way to get by, instead of marshalling B1900s.

Also re: BLI demographics, yeah, its mostly Canadians going south of the border to pickup cheap flights as they're tired of being screwed by Air Canada and Westjet from what I could tell.

The 757's will be in BLI long before we get ETOPS approval. Pax will travel north as well as south for a choice in carriers.

You keep hoping. There's no market between YVR and ANC, much less BLI and ANC. LOL! You keep sippin' that Vegas Kool-Aid.

I recall Skybus had GREAT success using BLI and calling it SEA/YVR. NOT!

That Vegas Kool-Aid has produced 32 consecutive quarters of profitability. Argue that...

Of course there is YVR/ANC flights - people who want to get the hell off their Alaskan cruise and come right back home promptly.

Yeah, I've heard everything from taxes to parking is a lot higher at YVR. BLI will have to raise fees some, because of the $30million terminal expansion. The fees however will still be a fraction of those at YVR.

That won't happen. No way. First they have to prove they can operate the new equipment, THEN they have to get ETOPS certification. ETOPS alone will take a couple years IF they can get their maintenance house in order. Considering the number of engine issues (fires, failures, etc.) they've had with the MD-80 over the last couple years, it could take longer than that.
Do you see Alaska adding any other flights? Are they happy with the loads? Our flight had some open seats, but I was told it was because we were weight restricted.

Is it six 757s that Allegiant has acquired? How many MD-80's are based in BLI?

With any luck your management is as narrow minded as you are. When does that high speed train from SEA to BLI start? I hope it's after we get the extra 16 seats in our airplanes so we can accommodate some of your passengers that make the switch.

Not really. People go ANC-SEA, ANC-ORD or ANC-PDX. In the summer add ANC-DEN and ANC-LAX. But ANC-YVR was a bust. The cruises generally originate/terminate in ANC, JNU or YVR.
