I suspect you'll find EAS on the Tea Party/Republican hit list.

Absolutely, why do you think the owner of Cape Air is a politician?

I saw one in Shannon, Ireland, just out of the paint shop.

That one is for the transatlantic feed for Ryanair.

I know exactly who goes on the ferry. I also know it doesn't go to ANC. I do know that a lot of people within 100 or so miles of BLI have interests in Alaska and would like to get up there at a lower fare than Alaska Airlines.

That will be difficult, as Ryanair has downsized to only 10-12 flights per day out of SNN. They used to have triple that number, to more destinations. Something about airport taxes and fees.

How are they going to get votes in Alaska if they eliminate the air service they depend on? Or they don't care about those votes anyways?

I think it's something like 60% of BLI traffic is Canadian. I'm sure there are a lot of Canadians that would like the added choices. It would be nice to see both Allegiant and Alaska do well. I took AK to Hawaii recently direct from BLI and it was great, really nice captain coming back. The last I heard for the 757s was maybe 2012 for BLI, that would be nice to have the option.

It may even be higher than that. Canadian customers LOVE BLI because its a short drive and they avoid all kinds of YVR airport taxes, including the "airport improvement fee".

That won't happen. No way. First they have to prove they can operate the new equipment, THEN they have to get ETOPS certification. ETOPS alone will take a couple years IF they can get their maintenance house in order. Considering the number of engine issues (fires, failures, etc.) they've had with the MD-80 over the last couple years, it could take longer than that.
