There, I fixed it for you. Any good bars near ANC? Disregard, we don't do overnights.

Fish, I am impressed with the amount of multi tasking hate you are able to spew between Allegiant and Virgin America!

To the others that responded to my question earlier, I thank you for your input. Duke, is it pretty clear for you to see how many guys ahead of you are waiting to get into IWA? Do most of the openings occur due to attrition, upgrades or guys swapping bases? Finally, when it come to your trips, for example out of IWA, are they all day trips? And if so, what would the standard trip look like as far as daily credit, departure time and arrival time back into IWA? Wondering just how demanding the commute from North Scottsdale to IWA would be. Could not be any worse than then JFK-PHX I used to do... right?!?

You obviously have no idea of the demographics of EITHER BLI or ANC. Nice try, though. How are those 757s working out?

Sorry, SUXer, but pointing out the truth doesn't qualify as hate no matter how much it hurts.

We currently have no overnights company wide in any base. Most trips are just out and back, some four leg days. Iwa currently has only one 4 leg day IWA-COS-LGB-COS-IWA. We have a morning bank and and afternoon bank. Mornings with starts as early as 5am to 9am with getting home from noon to 4pm. afternoons are anywhere from 1pm shows to returns by 11pm. A lot of lines you will work either all mornings or all afternoons for the month with a few start with afternoon trips and end on a morning. In Iwa most first officer positions are created from upgrades and some from growing the base. Attrition is very few people I have maybe gone up 10 numbers is 4 years. The attrition on the first officer side is a little more but still very few leave.

For IWA we still seem to have growth on the way some bases like FLL or BLI may not grow or will have limited growth going forward which makes it hard to get.

piper, that was an incredibly helpful post to get a better idea of what the life is like over there. To me, that lifestyle sounds ideal. It must be nice to actually be able to see ones wife and kids every night, or actually be able to have a social life.

Fish, if that is what brings a bit of happiness into your life, be my guest!

I wish you guys would add some more BLI - IWA flights. We have family in BLI and I would like to move up there soon.

BLI - ANC is not that farfetched. The Alaska Ferry leaves from Bellingham (Fairhaven harbor) as part of the marine highway system>

Again, you boys obviously don't know the demographics of the people who use the Ferry or what they use the Ferry for. Guess what? It DOESN'T go to ANC.

Hmph. Bring in some new blood to the AK world, imo. Transportation to too many villages are held for ransom by the only way to get in or out! Forget jumpseating, a guy can't even buy a ticket half the time, but whatever. It's about making money, right? Fleece the flock! Hmph.

Yeah, modify the current Essential Air Service and see what kind of frequency you get...
