Default Allegiant Purchased 6 757's???

Does anybody have any other information about this? I was told they bought 6 757's from Thomson in the U.K. and that the airplanes are sitting at I believe Goodyear in Arizona. The price tag on each 75 was estimated at around $8 million. Seeing how Allegiant is a public company the purchases would have to made public as well, but if the CEO bought them and put them in his name and not the company then he could keep it a "secret" or atleast try. Another rumore in this ongoing "mystery, if you will" is that they are planning on keeping the 75's seprate from Allegiant in other words flying them under another name. Lots of twist and turns in this story but if you have something to add please do so im all ears.

So you are saying people WILL come and fly a 757 for $41 bucks an hour? SPREAD THE WORD!

Looks like Republic has some more competition now.

Experienced type rated pilots would show up to fly the 757 for free.

$8 Million a piece? I have a hard time believing that. Maybe for a MD90, but not for a 757.

Doesn't seem to fit Allegiants business plan either.

Actually, it fits really well. The 757 is the most efficient jet on the planet and it has a much further reach than the MD82/83/88. What better to fly Ft. Lauderdale to Vegas on a "regional" cost structure?

I think a few Delta pilots just found their furlough gig.

I've got a 757/767 type rating and I wouldn't touch it for less than $100.00/hr as an FO. If they have a type, they know how much they are worth. It's the youngsters who have no idea what they should be paid who go for the cheap wages.

Unfortunately Justdoingmyjob, ALPA has trained a whole generation of pilots that "alter ego" has no meaning.

Wasn't FEDEX buying every 75 on sale sight unseen for a time? Sound too cheap to be true.
