Any Allegiant crew members out there care to comment on QOL at Allegiant.

Upgrades?
Training?

Thanks

Give the search function a try. It has alot of what your looking for in other threads.

-I know they are making money right now, but I don't think anyone is upgrading due to everyone staying put.
-I believe most trips are OAB's and are a little difficult to commute to.
-No clue.

G4 is a good company, playing smart in todays market with pay'd for md-80's. I know they aren't paid as good as they should, but the company seems to be fair all around.

DISCLAIMER- I dont work there, all info gathered in other threads.

Former G4 employee.

Typical trips....Mostly day trips. I was LAS based and all but PIA and BLI were day trips. BLI is now a base as well so that should no longer an overnight. Things may have changed a bit since I left. But base that had the most days off was RNO (a charter base) But they were starting to get pretty busy when I left.

Upgrades...I was an early 07 hire and the last upgrades I have heard of was one class senior to mine. (Jan07) This was a large class so it may be a bit to get through that class for upgrades. Also most junior captains were getting assigned Florida bases mostly. It may take a while to get LAS as CA as well as FO now.

Training... this needed a little bit of revamping. I know they were working hard on it when I departed. Sims were a piece of cake. A/c is pretty nice flying.

All in all G4 is a good company. I really enjoyed my time there and wish I would have stayed. ( I left for PIC turbine time) The biggest thing going for the place is the people there. I thought it was a good work enviornment and the company structure makes the employees feel like they can make a difference. (Since they serve small markets news spreads quickly throughout communities if customers have had a good or bad experience.)

Yes the MD is a hard a/c to make money. But the advantages are they are really cheap (compared to new 737 or Bus) with a lot being retired so there are a lot that can be parted out as needed. With the route/schedule structure they fly you will very often fly with loads of 140+ out of 150 seat MD-83's. ( I would say 145 was an average on over 90+% of my flights while I was there)

Good luck for anyone applying. I have heard of more a/c coming so hopefully they will be hiring again soon.

Skid hit most of the high points. Only one scheduled overnight system wide and it will be going away in the near future. Makes for a great QOL if you live in base. My guess is you are going to be waiting a while for an IWA assignment. Lots of interest in the IWA base as we have quite a few Phoenix locals (ex Mesa) at Allegiant. I know several guys who have been waiting upwards of 6 months for IWA!

Latest word is 2 classes this fall, subject to change. Likely to staff additional airframes coming in early 09. Roughly half the Jan 07 class has upgraded (based in BLI, IWA, FLL, SFB). Last upgrade was in March. My guess is some more upgrades this fall as well. Word is there is a nice tall stack of resumes on file, so its probably going to get really competitive! Hope this answers your questions.
