What's the deal with Sunseeker? Should that be printing money? Seems like the only hotel in Florida that isn't fully booked on the daily.

I think it’s too soon to tell. It opened last 2 weeks of December. We heard that it’s about 1/4 booked on average for Q1 on the shareholder call. How do you judge it? Maybe end of Q2 they are seeing 40-50% is good? Also event planners typically book 18 months out.

Because they built it in Port Charlotte. It's an hour from the closest beach, and not an esay hour. The drive sucks and there are tons of lights and traffic. Also because if you stay at the Wyvern of Four Points you can walk to all the bars and restaurants in Punta Gorda, not have to drive and cross the bridge. Another reason is for about the same price you can go to Sanibel, Captiva, or even Ft. Myers beach and stay at an actual beach resort. Also the restaurants are over priced for what you get. It is a beautiful resort that would look at home in Naples or Miami, unfortunately it's not. Lots of people familiar with the area said it was a bad idea. Maybe they should have tapped local knowledge for some advice.

It seemed way more logical to leverage a big name chain for the hotel, Hyatt etc. I'm sure Maury didn't want to pay the commission though, so they reivented the wheel and probably spent 2x more for a fraction of the revenue that place could be getting if it was a Grand Hyatt. Pretty typical for Allegiant though, they could have made millions more if they used a real GDS system, which would have allowed 3rd party bookings, international travel, and modern crew tracking. But instead they stayed with AIS...

Maybe, but they could use the airline for an interest free loan to build the property.
