Who exactly are "the slaves belowdecks"? Are they the reserve pilots that have consistently had the lowest reserve utilization in the industry? Are they the junior line holders that get stuck working every Friday/Sunday of the month?
Are there some reserve pilots that get jerked around? absolutely, I have repeated it to everyone who asks that sitting in reserve in FL would be terrible at least four months out of the year...TERRIBLE.
Sitting reserve in a small base is incredibly cush. You get called out a couple times a week. Some small bases (BLI) the reserves don't even fly enough to get their landings.
If you want to liken sitting reserve in FL to being a "slave belowdeck who must keep rowing" then whatever. I think it might be a little out of touch, but I don't judge. Siting reserve in LAS or IWA can be a pain, but i still pick up RAPs to pad my pay and roll the dice because its still not that bad and in most cases its free money.
And for new hires, who are most certainly going to a small base, sitting reserve is generally pretty nice. If you're trying to get to FL, I'd forget about it because your QOL will be way different than most of the pilots across the system. Just my two cents.

How is allegiant's training department? Instructor quality? APD quality? syllabus and how they lay out everything for you to study?
How long is training?
Where is it located?
Any breaks? any delay for IOE?
and most importantly, is it true everyone (incl new hires) are getting an added $4,024 on top of their base $4,152 monthyl min guarnatee for a total of ~$8,176/month?

BUT you won’t see that additional money until we have TA on our contract.

the added pay is a retention bonus that will be paid when we get a contract. It’s an agreement between union and management. Management is accruing for it (money is in an account so it’s not an IOU) and sends “updates” of how much your accrual/retention bonus has in it.
BUT you won’t see that additional money until we have TA on our contract.

Anyway still curious about the training department and all that

Training department is fine. Non AQP, still has an oral, need to do everything near perfect during the type ride (but the airbus makes that easy...not sure about the 737). There have been a lot of failures but that seems more a reflection of the company scraping the bottom of the barrel more than anything else.

The $4,152 won’t be around until a few months after a new contract, which is probably years away.

The Bonus is in effect in that it is being set aside or at least calculated on a monthly bases. It will not pay out tell after a contract is voted in. The contract is not close to being done. Training is fine.
