I know they are expanding their service. In CMI, we will have CMI-LAS direct with Allegiant Air in August. I believe they offer a $79 one way intro fare. I've yet to see the cargo bin of an 80 but I heard it's tight. I'm proud to say I have 8 hours of time in an 80 sim though, so I look forward to seeing if the belly is just as well designed.

It's not. Enjoy packing 200 bags in those things.

Two hundred...yeah right. Maximum of 150 cows in back of the MD-87 times 4 bags = entirely too many for me.

Default Thanks for the comments

Thank you everyone for your comments. The more I look into Allegiant Air the better it sounds. The Twotter was fun to fly and the company was ok but I feel its time to move on and see what 121 flying in a jet is all about. I applied to Allegiant by just walking in my resume to their office in LAS. Got a call to interview two months later and was offered the job three days after the interview. I have about 3.5k in the Otter (SIC/PIC). The rest of the multi time is PA-31, Beech 18 (Part 135) and PIC time in a Ford 5-AT Tri-Motor (Part 91).

She's only a MAD Dog when she's empty. Otherwise the 80 is just a plain old dog!

Ya got that right.

I always thought the Mad Dog nickname came from the way it kinda looks like a dog sniffing when viewed from the front, especially with the black radome.

Dog or not, the 80 rocks! You will be flying one of the last true steam-gauge cockpits using Fly-By-(Cable)-Wire in a very mechanically reliable aircraft. (Yes they have EFIS, but it's only 2-tube ADI/HSI). Not to mention how many car alarms you will set off on takeoff roll using Max power. Booyah!

Good luck in getting on with Allegiant, they have some great pilots there.

I hear great things about Allegiant. You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain in my opinion. You will be home most nights and you will get to see a lot of the country depending upon your base - I am presuming LAS if want to remain in that area. Hey, if you don't like it you can always apply to Netjets.

Have fun!
