That is good news imo and hope it is true.

Hopefully they find a way to get unstuck soon. Most of the people I fly with and know at Allegiant have started filling out apps to be ready to bolt if we go to the NMB. The risk of staying here is already high enough. Also reasonably close absolutely doesn’t cut it. Let’s not forget that Allegiant is the only airline that profited through Covid and consistently hits double digit profit margins.. Spirit’s union gave in to the Stockholm’s syndrome and proved that they value theirselves as ULCC pilots. The only thing keeping me and I’m sure many others here is the obvious reality of supply and demand and strong clear goals of our union. Reasonably close doesn’t cut it.

Squeakygreaser when did you hear that? We haven’t heard any update about the last two sessions on the 8th and 9th, if the company even showed up…..

I heard that a couple days ago. I guess it's sort of good news, but stuck on work rules is still stuck.

I didn't hear that they had an agreement on those other things either.

I just heard that work rules was what they were stuck on.

One thing has become painfully clear through all this, the teamsters are woefully incapable of supporting a growing airline like ours. We need representation that can call in experience to get things done, we have too much ego and overconfidence driving the ship when we need to be calling in industry experience. Teamsters do not, will not, and cannot ever provide this to us. When we are finally done with this new CBA we desperately need an ALPA drive and fresh faces in the union to secure our future.

HAHAHA. ALPA doesn't care about 1000 pilot airlines. You get to pay to piggyback on what the legacies are doing.

It's blindingly clear this isn't the teamsters of yesteryear where they'd go break management's legs if they didn't agree to a contract.

Rumor on the street is that the company didn't show up one of the days and didn't have anything for the union on the second day.

Just curious about what you think ALPA would do differently. If the company says we are worth JB's four-year-old contract with essentially current work rules, what is ALPA going to do? No union can make the company agree to a deal. That's not how it works. Also, ALPA bought off on Spirit's crappy deal and United's/Alaska's as well. No thanks to any of those.

I have never called you any name. I thought we were having a logical back-and-forth discourse about an issue that neither of us is an expert on. Maybe I was wrong.

It’s not about what they’d do differently it’s about the resources they have and the inherent structure set up to manage negotiations. Our negotiators might be nice, we’ll intentioned people but the fact is that they are outgunned, out maneuvered, inexperienced, and unwilling or unable to invest in proper outside assistance. We can’t afford to continue to pay their tuition at the cost of our careers. Additionally, If it’s true that the company can go over the locals head and petition Teamsters National to send us a contract to vote on then we will always and forever have something less than what we deserve.

Really? How many pilots does sun country have? Kalitta? Hawaiian? How many pilots did spirit have 10 years ago.. 20 years ago? Alpa would take us and we could really benefit from their resources, they have their faults but they are the ones best suited to represent professionals like us. We need to start playing the long game, that means making significant changes to address not this contract but the next one. Not this management group but the next one. We deserve better.
