Is it really being distracted when negotiations are done by four people? Discussions on a garbage forum don't really detract from what matters.

Heaven forbid you delay the negotiations! After all, the current state of negotiations have left G4 pilots with a contract worse than Skywest (which doesn't even have a union), and zero leverage with the current job market. Why would Maury sign off on a contract that is going to cost millions when the company isn't even profitable at the current rates? This will drag on and on, probably until a strike is hours away - you might as well have ALPA there running things than the truckers union.
In my opinion, ALPA currently does not have the support of the pilots for the same reason AR won the last election. The majority didn't want to interrupt and delay the mediated contract negotiation process. It's clear it would be another time setback. Standing up a new team would be a lengthy process as well and you can't just assume those who volunteer today would be willing to volunteer tomorrow.
If we were not in the middle of negotitations, its possible AR would have lost the election and/or ALPA could be voted in.

well ****ing away 8 million, losing healthcare coverage, losing the retention bonus, starting over in negotiations, yeah ALPA sounds great!

Understand the difference between simply decertifying a union and holding a representation election. I've experienced the latter & everything remained in place during the changeover & for the duration.

There are plenty of reasons to stick with IBT for now, but one of them definitely isn’t because you’re afraid of delaying negotiations. I mean…are you kidding me?? Our negotiations have been the laughing stock of the industry, and will continue to be for years to come.

We’d probably have to get a whole new negotiating committee how would that not delay things…how would being ALPA help negotiations? our negotiations being a laughing stock may be true but that’s also partly on the company. I am hopeful this current group can make progress.

we are the laughing stock because our union is the laughing stock. We’ve had four negotiating committees this year. Our president will be lucky to avoid prison time. We have an emergency trustee. We are nowhere close to getting a deal and we have no attrition and zero leverage. For pilots who have 25+ years til retirement you’ve already lost more than $500k to your 401k and the will probably lose another $500k at least.
We are absolutely a laughing stock but the last year has only been our fault. Management and MG were a joke with the mailer addressed to the spouses. But the tides have complete turned. We are now the laughing stock.
