Contract negotiations

I’m actually leaving but I’m just trying to say that a 40% attrition rate won’t be seen unless it’s getting so bad that base closures and downgrades are happening left and right. This is gonna take some time to materialize. Class dates are 3-4 months out and many ppl haven’t even applied yet. That’s after waiting 6 weeks for an interview after applying.
There are too many pilots here who love the home every night and are praying for a miracle who also haven’t touched their logbook in 5 years or more. In their defense if they stick around hoping for a miracle they lose seniority but for the reasons you mentioned above even getting hired by United a year from now isn’t the end of the world. Plenty of pie for everybody. That’s just how it is these days. Seems like more people are confused than ever about what to do after the latest CEO message.

you can get a response in less then a week right now unless there’s a holiday after applying. Check the CJO threads in United, delta, and American. It’s about 1-1.5 months out for interviews and maybe 2-3 for a class.

Took 6 months from click submit to class date for me but you’re right holidays were in the way and maybe the other places are faster like you say. In any event my opinion is many ppl haven’t even applied yet. Most ppl didn’t do no wakey wakey until the latest AR video which was what like a week ago? Most are trying to locate their logbook in the closet still. Still going to take time before attrition becomes a tsunami wave.

I can’t believe more of y’all haven’t left yet. What’s the hold up? Updating the logbook? Submit an app and you get an interview invitation 30 minutes later.
the writing is on the wall here. Why would you let the greatest hiring event in airline history pass you by while hoping for change from allegiant management? It will never come.
cut your losses and put your money where your mouth is and get out. It’ll be the best decision you ever made for your life and your family

40% definitely ain’t leaving. We’re all going to American or wherever to be the bottom of a 15000 pilot list with a looming recession to start at $85/hr doing reserve on multiple day trips out of JFK? I don’t think so. This contract is bad but most ppl that have 2-3 years in live in base and are making $150K or more. Like someone else said if they start closing bases and downgrading the attrition will definitely spike up.
However, staying here because of the reasons above is incredibly short sighted. Someone hired a year ago at American has about 2000 pilots below them. AA has to continue hiring because most of the pilots are retiring in the next 10 years so that person will continue to move up. 30%-40% in the company on their 10th anniversary is very likely. Someone hired at American a year ago will make A320 CA in MIA within the next year or two at the most. That's way more money than any CA at G4 is making, even under the crappy current contract which Delta is sure to drag up. It's a no brainer if you have more than 10 years left before retirement.
United has claimed they will hire 400 a month this year (I doubt it, but that's still eye watering growth if they actually do it). Their contract will probably be better than American, and the MCO base didn't go super senior. They are also opening a LAS base and have said they will look at other satellite bases. Uprgrade immediately after your first year if you want it. Widebody as a newhire.
Delta is Delta. You'll spend quality time in NYC or ATL and you'll fly with Deltoids but you'll make incredible money and the junior 767 CA in ATL is a May 2022 hire. Think about that for a minute. What a time to be alive.
Anyone who stays at Allegiant at this point is lazy, has too many skeletons in their closet to get hired, or made bad life choices to get bound with the golden handcuffs. The rest of you should get your log book dusted off and updated, and put your apps out. Wake up. You're giving up a lot for "home every night" that can be gone with the flick of a keyboard. The recent letters from the union and management should make it perfectly clear: Nothing is going to improve here any time soon. It's probably going to get worse.

Okay I guess if you can't plan past 1 year. DAL and UAL both have 1 year upgrades and not only in coastal bases, ATL, Denver etc. Year 2 CA pay will be $309 at DAL with 17% DC, throw in a little PS and a green slip or 2 and you're well over 400,000 total comp year 2. UAL and AA will have TA's soon and AA upgrade times are falling quickly.

Honestly a big chunk of the pilot group has been tuned out; drive to the airport 7 hours later in your car driving home. I think some are starting to wake up. A lot of pilots here probably, until very recently, couldn’t tell you much if anything about industry standard contracts, hiring & progression at legacies, and the kind of schedules & QOL available.

some of the CA I fly with now don’t know what industry standard is even after throwing the unions pdf compare document in their face with bright orange squares showing Allegiant’s deficiencies.

Long time fence sitter here and I’ve now lost all faith in the company coming to the table with industry standard pay and work rules. Impossible to know where ill be and what I’ll be doing 10 years from now. Half my new hire class is already gone, the rest of us are putting our apps in now. Already have two legacy interviews lined up next month.
Best of luck to the rest of you.
