All you folks asking which are the junior bases, I will say this one last time, because its getting annoying as heck listening to guys who have been here less than a year ***** about 'what they didn't expect':
I just want all you guys asking 'can I get XXX out of training' to understand things are not improving here. They are getting worse. We need a new contract, no doubt about it, but this company will do their best to not give in including cutting the size of the operation. Our only hope is to be bought out or the investors send a message to the numpties in Vegas that their tactics need to end. Don't expect either to happen soon. Just please don't come here and then say 'I can't believe it was this bad'. You were warned.
- All junior bases have relatively senior FO's and Captains who have moved there for a better line than what they can hold in Florida or else where. Most of those have made these bases their home, purchased property and laid down roots. They aren't leaving soon and they really aren't progressing much. So those junior to them will have a worse QOL.
- All junior CA in the junior bases are relatively junior (most junior is about 12 month on property). They will be on indefinite reserve.
- The junior guy more often than not is involuntary TDY'd out of base to some other hell hole.
- On reserve you have very little opportunity to pick up open time as you are always off on days we don't fly. And you are too junior to get any VFN's. So don't expect to make over guarantee.
- Even when you move off the bottom of the list, you still wont get a line when you expect because the new guys always go to the junior bases. Crew planning holds back trips from the bid for them to consolidate. It is not unusual for the more senior line holders to find them selves on reserve.
- You will only move up in seniority when people come in under you. If its that crappy a base, the new guys only come in for a short time until they can get closer to where they want to be
- As this airline begins to shrink over then next few months, the problem will only become worse.
- When the 737's start to arrive, and the pilot group is split, expect more TDY's which will be involuntary, and all of the above problems to double.
- The small bases will most likely start to close in the next year. They wont be able to staff them. So expect to commute to your crappy schedule.
