Base bidding
I’m gonna be in one of the upcoming classes and was wondering how base bidding works. Is this something that is done every month? Just when there are vacancies (dependent on someone leaving company, upgrade, or growth/ new classes) ? I have heard you bid on bases first week of class. Thanks for the help!

There is a new system wide vacancy bid before every new hire class which has typically been almost every month except the pandemic and MD80 transition year. Whatever openings are left go to the new hire class which usually bids on those vacancies their first week of class, sometimes second.

Growth only. The airline doubled in size pilot wise in just 5 years. We just do not have the attrition like the legacy carriers do right now. It's hard to gauge too because we do not have a list of pilot ages published anywhere.
A lot of pilots here have their own side gigs going too and many are happy to stay First Officer with best schedules you can imagine being in the top 20% of FO's etc..
If you come here, its not going to be a traditional airline job and in many ways that is both good and bad. We have a lot of work to do on this next contract. For many pilots, this next contract will likely be their last contract age wise I believe.

Consider this (looking exclusively at retirements):
If tomorrow any of the legacies hires you, in 10 years you'll be somewhere around 50% seniority.
If tomorrow you get on with Allegiant, in 10 years you'd still be hanging out at the bottom 15% of the seniority list (~140 projected retirements).
This should give you an idea of how young our pilot group is.
