Allegiant Bases
#941
Like said over and over its hard to put a time on when a base will become available. You could possibly get out of new hire it could be a year. Asheville is a small base and like any base especially small bases the movement can stop at anytime for a while. If everyone that is there wants to stay then no movement happens. With the number of people leaving to other airlines things are moving a lot on the FO side. Last award someone in Hired in May got Asheville, but that would not mean you would see the same results. In the past people have waited 3 years for a base just to get it at the same time new hires do. This also make Upgrading crazy, as you could get into a base that every CA and most if not All FO want to stay there because its home then you get crazy long lines to upgrade. In some of our bases a new hire could be looking at 10 to 20 years for upgrade spot unless growth in those bases.

whats the likelihood of a new hire getting PIT or ABE? After reading through the thread, if you don't get your first choice base how do you go about getting to work if you don't live there? Which bases are the commutable bases if any?

To summarize:
1. Nobody can say for sure if you’ll get xyz base or how long it will take ‘cause it’s too variable.
2. It’s not commutable here as a new-hire, for any base.

Almost all these questions are un-answerable or at best “your mileage may vary”. Allegiant isn’t Southwest or Spirit where you get based in Vegas & there are 500 crews there & you spend a few months on reserve snd move up to lineholder and then Captain. Allegiant’s model operates in an alternative universe.
To summarize:
1. Nobody can say for sure if you’ll get xyz base or how long it will take ‘cause it’s too variable.
2. It’s not commutable here as a new-hire, for any base.

#1 is misleading. With the amount of attrition we have, especially on the FO side, its pretty easy to get any base you want within 6-9 months of being released to the line as a new hire. When the attrition stops, then it is a crapshoot. But with almost 50% FO attrition there are vacancies opening up across all bases when you take a 9 month lookback.

#2 is absolutely correct - never try to commute at this airline.
