Allegiant Bases

Who it will hurt is Frontier, BlueSpirit, and Southwest who have bases in MCO/TPA.
Also a good chance UAL's rumored "warm weather base" will go super senior and then won't change recruiting at all.

Honest opinion? I think it will hurt newhire recruiting but won't really drive anyone already here to leave. Those who stay are here for the day trips. Anyone who would have wanted to go to United or another legacy already left or is in the process. AA has a MIA/FLL/PBI base. Lots of FL G4 pilots have cashed in on that.

You never know. If it’s phx that will hurt a lot too.

Delta also has captains less than a year now. In ATL. On the 757/767. AA is still running about 2.5 years but that's going to come down quickly.

You serious Clark? United has hundreds of unfilled captain vacancies. It's literally a year plus 1 day to hold captain there (only because their rules say you can't be a captain until you're off probation).

Plus I now live in base at F9. I feel like there’s risk in leaving to start over.

I’m saying I doubt you will see upgrades that quick in a FL base if it happens. And you have to factor in how long til you get hired as well. Why are there vacancies to begin with? Do people not want it?

Here is a link to the thread for you. There were unfilled Captain vacancies in every base at UAL except IAH on the last bid. With that being said, I'd say you have pretty good odds of upgrading in FL sooner than later if the trend continues. Plus assuming this base actually happens, it's been a rumor for ages so I'll believe it when I see it. Yeah I hear you but no risk no reward! You just have to factor in all the variables in your specific situation. They should be next in line to get a new TA so the gamble could pay off big but if you're already a line holding captain in your 40's or older that would be a lot to risk IMO.

I'm only 5 months in at F9 and I'm 37 so I guess I'm good that way. I already interviewed with UAL last Jan and got the TBNT so im still waiting for a chance to re-interview. They told me I had to wait 12 months so at that point I had pretty much written them off having lost 2000+ seniority spots. But I do keep my application up to date.

Happy you got on at F9, but at 5 months, not surprised you're still a cheerleader. F9 is going to have a rough road ahead as the largest ULCC. The thing about being ahead is that everyone else is after you now.
At 37 years old you have 28 years left assuming they don't raise the retirement age. Where do you think Frontier will be in almost 30 years? You're leaving a couple million+ on the table if you choose to stay at F9. You could easily retire as a WB CA at any of them. You're 37, not 57. Many much older than you have recently joined a legacy airline. I'm just saying.
You should keep your apps at all 3 updated.
