I wonder how G4 pumping the brakes on small mid continent bases is going to affect BLV. They've dumped a ton of money into that terminal expansion and haven't gotten much grant money to cover it. But then that airport has been a bottomless pit for about 20 years now. Maybe Avelo and Breeze will start service there.
One thing BLV is good at is getting grant money to pay for things.
side note: It won’t be breeze going in there. They will be at STL if they come.
Avelo? Maybe
next airline in will be Viva Aerobus though. They already are talking about adding customs in preparation for it.

BLV did NOT get the SCASD grant that probably would have moved them up the list for a base. So still a waiting game for them. Terminal expansion is still on track for a December or January opening.

DSM is junior, but hopefully you’ve done a little research on how seniority works at Allegiant small bases. You’ll move through the ranks as an FO there at a decent rate, but if you’re interested in being a CA you’ll never see good seniority in that base. Once Captains have moved there and settled their family, they aren’t going anywhere and the base isn’t growing. That equals zero career progression. You’ll have to move to a new base somewhere when it opens at some point if you want to gain seniority in the left seat.

Understand that growth - the way pilots perceive it - has pretty much come to a halt due to staffing. There is evidence to suggest the small base strategy is under review. Something to consider before making life choices based on a domicile like DSM.

DSM is achievable as a new hire. But as already stated here, I wouldn't base your decision solely on DSM remaining a base in the future. There does seem to be evidence that the small base strategy while only 2 years old is under review. Sources say its not just a pilot problem, but it seems the company may have miscalculated the flight attendant problem in these small bases.

There is zero evidence the small bases are going away. "The small bases are gonna get closed" has been going around since Asheville opened up 7 years ago.. then a dozen more bases opened. The growth now is only limited by FO's. Until FO's have a good reason to stay and possibly move to a new base to upgrade, versus going to DL/AA, there won't be any growth.
