That’s because F9/NK prioritize being an Air Line. Two-plane mid-continent Hotel strategy isn’t in their DNA.

This really changes the calculus for Phoenix area pilots. Someone could have made at least a weak argument that PHX for WN and AA, maybe, if you want to be an FO there, for a while. Even then it’s not convincing given all the other factors. Now the largest ULCC juggernaut opening up a PHX base. Forgettaboutit.

Jdebrey, get on at G4 asap before the end of the year. That way you beat the Max’s arrival, thereby guaranteeing an A320 slot; you get to IWA or are in que for it. Management is planning to put the Max’s in mid-continent. I have a feeling the Max will go junior for new hires next year in order to sell the airbi type.

FWIW I don't think we currently have a seat lock for new hires. The training scheduling mess is going to get only worse when the 737s arrive.

More reason for him to get here asap for the 320. Training foot print will probably double.

I would love that, but if I start at my regional in two months will I be qualified to get an interview with either F9 or allegiant by the end of the year?

It’ll depend on how much you fly and your other qualifications. I have a friend who was hired at a regional in August and either has already interviewed or has an interview scheduled with all 3.

Maybe things have changed, but I know with F9 going to a MTC or an in person event is a huge plus.

Have you applied to Frontier, Spirit, Southwest, American etc. If so why not? Shameful if you do not practice what you preach.

I was hired at Allegiant with just 8 months at a regional and only 200 SIC 121 hours pre-covid. It’s only gotten weirder since then.

I had mil time, but it was all helo.

I currently have a 4 year degree, and have been a stage pilot for the 141 flight school I work at for about 2 years… hoping that might give me a little bit more of an advantage, but who knows. I will definitely consider your guys advice though.

For a pilot based out of Phoenix what do you think makes better sense for QOL? Frontier or allegiant?

These same conversations continue to come up. If you are going to commute, do not come here, it’s miserable. If you are from Allentown, Des Moine, Flint, or Appleton get your apps In immediately. You will also have a quick upgrade in those bases.
