Looks like 3 airplanes in Flint to start, that will be 17 new hires right there.
Looking back, one communication had said 15-20 per class, another more recent email had specifically said 22 for July 12th. So yes, it appears there may have have been a few that didn't show up, but 2/3rds no show rate is definately a lie. We'll see how many get hired away during the course of their training though... When you don't have much invested yet, it's easy to make the jump elsewhere.

Rumor is incorrect. Also, the class that started yesterday appears full. Maybe 1 or 2 no shows.

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzz.

I don’t want to be a real whiner here cause I’ve been moving from base-to-base the past few years, but Flint is a real head-scratcher. It’s got a real “wth-why-would-I-move-for-this” feel too it. If I get assigned it…

I mean, just from a public safety perspective it’s gonna be a real hard sell. Never mind it’s a dying city with a decreasing population year-after-year. Boy I’m usually optimistic but this is my first real whining post.

On the plus side, it does make Des Moines and Allentown way more palatable.

It's arrogance. Pure arrogance. If you actually work here, you know what I mean.

Those at HQ honestly believe we are the best airline, and people will want to come work here.

They also plan to recruit every pilot in the mitt who meets the minimum requirement. Lots of low time freight dogs up there. FedEx feeder caravans, Lears and falcons out of YIP flying for dog****** carriers. They'd sell their left nut to fly an airbus, and be home every night, or get their time to go to UPS or FDX.

They will have no problem filling the spots.

This has got to be a recruiting ploy, they will be able to say our upgrade times are 0-6 months

15-17 CA slots in FNT?

Headline: ALLEGIANT AIR HIRING STREET CAPTAINS!!!

Nah, some junior chasers will go for it. Then spend 5 years b1tching on facebook about getting jerked around on reserve in blizzards until they get displaced, uh, I mean vacancy reduced back to the right seat in a senior base.

I think the more likely scenario is, this will become a forced TDY nightmare base, only magnifying the misery.

New hires will get awarded FNT, but by the time they finish OE they’ll bid out, creating a constant need to TDY. Allentown was like this before covid. On the captain side, it will likely be a constant churn of upgrades, creating the same problem of pilots being “based” in FNT, but never actually working there since they’ll be in the upgrade footprint. Unless they bring VBD back by Feb, this means pilots will be pulled from other bases to staff FNT… so much for being home every night.

maybe this brings back the VBDs. rumors are that management is already considering bringing VBDs back.
