You will not upgrade at any of those places in any timeframe that's considered quick.

Point your finger at any of our Midwest(ish) cities and expect it to become a base in the next 3-5 years. Our established bases will be difficult to upgrade in with the exception of the NE bases. If a base opens and it’s desirable, lots of senior FO’s will leave to upgrade. If it has a high cost of living or it’s someplace like Flint then expect perpetual junior vacancies.

5-25 years, it’s impossible to predict. Very limited retirements, the only way vacancies will be created is if people leave for other bases or the company decides to grow the base in a big way. BNA has the best chance for growth out of all those bases. AVL has the best chance of stagnating or closing, expect it to sit at 2-3 airplanes forever. TYS is more senior and does not have the potential for growth that BNA does.

it’s not but of those 3 it’s the weakest IMHO, it has many operational challenges that the other 2 don’t.

You're looking at the wrong airline if that's what you want.

AVL has been around 6 years and is a very stable base. The only limiting factor there is gate availability. There hasn’t been a base closure since HNL, and that was for obvious reasons. Just pick whatever city you’re happiest to live in, upgrade will never be predictable.

You forgot OAK. They also closed DSM and JQF before they opened and then re-opened DSM.

Thanks for the info. Sorry I don't know a lot about how the system works yet. What kind of reserve does allegiant do? Long, short, mix? Min pay is 72hrs?
I don't mind not upgrading soon. That probably seems strange to a lot of you, but I'm in no hurry to change seats and I'm ok with FO pay scale.
All that said, I don't want to move a lot. So how does the hiring process work? What I'm gathering is that if you get hired you have no guarantee of a base assignment? Can you turn down an assignment if they want you to go somewhere you aren't willing to (west coast is not an option for me... hard pass)? How does TDY work with them? If I get to VPS and get sent TDY as suggested here, how does that work? Am I able to commute?

Several people were holding DSM awards and other CA spots during the canceled upgrade bid. Some very junior. Looks like upgrades are going to go a lot more senior now because some of these lifer FOs are waking up and realizing that sometimes the music stops and it's better to be at a higher paying position when it does.

All short call reserve. 90 minutes to the parking lot, 10 minutes to return their call. At 11 minutes, you get a no show. Our contract allows long call, but the company doesn't utilize it. That requires too much advance planning. Reserve guarantee is 72 hours.

Good because someone hired today probably won't upgrade in less than 6 years in the most junior and undesirable bases. For an established base, make that 10-20.

If you get hired you have no guarantee of a base assignment. Toward the end of your first week, you'll be given a bid sheet with the leftovers from our last system bid. The usual suspects have been beat to death here. You can't "turn down an assignment". This isn't the military (can they even do that?) You may end up on the west coast. I guess you could just quit if that happens. If you get TDY'd its a month at a time and you get a hotel and about $1500 a month per diem. VPS TDY's out in the winter so you could end up in GRR or ABE in January. TDYs are bid by seniority. Don't expect PIE, FLL or PGD. If you get hired here, you'll probably have to move unless you've always wanted to live in the upper midwest.
