Most airlines give refunds and have people answering the phone in less than 5 hours. Most airlines also have another flight for them to take in less than 3-5 days. The collateral damage is way worse when we cancel, with our pure leisure travel model and infrequent flights. So we need to go above and beyond the other airlines to compensate them. They need to do better. Right now they aren't even trying. I guess you haven't had the pleasure of walking through the terminal yet and having someone shout "your airline sucks" at you.

I've been around enough to know not to get worked up about it. They've had way bogger doozies than this. Nothing personal its just business. It's Allegiant 101.

I agree this needs to improve but it has been like this for a very long time. No need to be so dramatic.

This summer is an absolute mess but hopefully they will learn from it and improve. Bear in mind that pilots weren’t the only ones let go due to COVID and that whole building in Vegas is a skeleton crew.

Ha! This brought back a funny memory. I had been in the airline world for all of 1 month, when I was sitting hot reserve for an AA wholly owned in CLT. It was 11pm, and I was waiting to be released near the terminal exit. A group of angry passengers passed by me, and one of the older men pointed and literally started booing at me.

”BOOOOOOO! American Airlines sucks! You should be ashamed to work for them! BOOOOOOO!”

I just smiled and nodded. I wanted to say, “but sir! I don’t even work for them yet! I’m hoping to end up at an airline like that one day!” 😆

Lol, I’ve experienced this too everywhere that I’ve ever worked! It’s comical that some of these guys don’t think there’s been angry passengers everywhere this summer. I’ve seen passengers nearly revolting on multiple occasions this summer at Southwest counters during some of their mass cancellation events. They all say they won’t be back to fly the airline ever again….until they do. 🤣

For anyone wondering the last town hall with the executives stated 2 new bases being announced by early 2022. They were all about the small basing strategy on the call, don't expect a change there.

Anyone know what manning at VPS looks like? I'm considering the switch to airlines on retirement. But allegiant is really the only one that offers what we're after with being home every night. Id consider other options in the southeast, but VPS is preferred.

highly seasonal. High chance of being tdy’d out for several months each winter and spring. Also, they probably won’t be offering vacancies in this base for a few months longer because of the seasonality, so if you started now you would be based elsewhere until late spring at which time a vacancy would open.

Overall, it has been historically junior since it’s a newer base but by now it may be more “settled.” That is, the 15 or so FOs based and living there there aren’t going anywhere, except to the left seat. Trouble is, we don’t have 15 vps cas retiring in the next decade. Or the decade after that… so expect to be fo for a long time and probably get tdy’d out for several months for the first two winters.

it’s full up right now but with the coming 120 system upgrades and future growth plans in VPS it’s possible. Plan for 1-2 years just because it’s so seasonal that if a bunch of guys leave in the fall they won’t backfill until the spring. It’s also the purgatory base for guys trying to get elsewhere in Florida, people squat in VPS which double sucks because they’re preferred base of PIE, PGD, or FLL will open up fall vacancies, they leave and the company won’t backfill immediately.

SAV is pretty junior and probably easier to hold near term. With the new base announcements though anything can happen. Prepare for the worst but plan to be surprised, things change really really fast here.

Looking for which base out of the three I will be able to upgrade at the quickest as of now(I know things are ever-changing) and how safe each one is from possibly closing down. Just would like to move one last time and never move again lol
