When hiring regularly, vacancy bids have come out as often as monthly. When not hiring, vacancy bids are many months apart. Planning seems to be settling into a bid every 2-3 months. However, award dates tend to be 2-4 months from the bid, so even if you were able to bid into a different base while you are in training, you will be probably be online for a month or two before you were able to be in the new base.
Example, the next vacancy bid is planned to be in August. For someone, in a July class, if they don’t like their initial award, they can bid a different base in August, but it would not take effect until November or December.

also some growth on the west coast with SAN, LAX, JAC, PDX and SNA new flying being staffed with LAS 4 leg pairings. Lots of vacancies were created in LAS for that this last spring and the spots were filled by recalled pilots from the east who were able to go back east with this award.
