BLI, moves very very slow they have been a 2 plane base for years now. Growth has not happened or even been talked about. Some of the CA up there sat reserve for over 10 years to get to a line. What happens to FO's is they either give up the wait and take and upgrade in another base and move or they go to Alaska. It has been a joke in BLI since it opened 17 years ago that the fastest upgrade is to go to Alaska. Quality of life is great even on reserve as its to far to use in other bases so once the 2 planes are out Reserve call out is very unlikely. Junior pilots on a rare have been TDY out when that happens can suck because you can end up in Florida for a month. There are a couple retirements coming up so will move some in the near future but then it might not see any upgrades for another ten years. The last opening for CA a pilot currenly in the top 5 in the company took. In the last ten years there has maybe been 4 CA spots open for bid. I think only like 1 went to a current BLI FO. Reserve can be years long and you will fly very minimally a lot have to call in and get placed on schedule to keep current. I think right now line holding CA's all have 15 years plus at Allegiant. Those are some of the reasons for turn over at the FO possition.
So, because of all of this, I am guessing that there is lots of turn over in FO positions there, making it an easy base to acquire. Weather that's a good decision based on what you said is one thing, but I am gathering, it would be an easy base to get into..... even if that means one might sit reserve for a real long time?
Thanks again

My assumption is that this makes BLI undesirable on the FO side of things, and relatively easy to get into?
My case might not be the same as most as the QOL is my highest priority.
Thanks

Agreed. 100%.... But I just want to make sure it's likely/easy/not impossible to get there on the FO side before I make a decision to go that way. Sounds like it's tough on the CA side, but, on FO side, is it likely I could get there in a year or less?

Probably a year or less....but with such small bases the decisions of just a few people senior to you can significantly change your life. There has been an influx of new-hires who actually want the base ss opposed to getting assigned to it & bidding out ASAP. Be prepared to maybe wait a year, also be prepared to be assigned to the 737 & wait up to 3 years.
