Bailing for greener pastures?
I've been flying with several unhappy FOs lately and some flat out disgruntled folks. They are fairly new to the company ranging from 1-3 years of seniority. Well more than half of them have told me that they have their apps out with the big boys and I totally get it.
I'm not one to give them advice either way unless they ask. I know a few folks have already left for DAL, UAL, and FedEx. With the company stalling TPA talks and taunting us with their old and predictable playbook negotiation tactics, I get the feeling that more folks will bail. I know that some played this game in the early '90s and lost but this isn't the same scenario as the '90s. It's sad that Alaska Airlines is becoming a stepping stone for greener pastures. I feel that this management group is heading down some slippery slopes. As the saying goes, arrogance is the beginning of downfall.

I totally get it. We have a fair amount of disgruntled folks at Vx too but no one is getting calls. The sad fact is the combined company still doesn't offer enough upward movement for the junior guys. Why stay at a second tier airline with lower pay and no growth or movement when the big guys offer it all.

You could apply that sentiment towards jetblue too. It'll be interesting if both companies ( combined Alaska and jetblue) churn out lackluster "agreements" in the future. I would hope the suit-and-tie folk realize that there's hardly any risk for pilots to leave for greener pastures.
Edit: just looked at the previous "second tier" comment.

Now that summer is over, the company is beginning to pull out the nasty plays from the same old lame playbook. Unfortunately for them, they are pi$$ing into the wind.

B.M. and the gang are giving it their best to pave the way to be the new bottom tier airline. Race to the bottom at its best.
