Edit: Download a copy of "Flying the Line". Two parter, long, but provides great perspective and history to all of this. According to some this used to be mandatory reading from the Union.
Before I ever started flying, My parents had a friend who was a UAL 747 Captain, they wanted Mr. Kelly to talk to me about the job and industry. He insisted we meet so he could enlighten me before I started down the path of working for the airlines. Mr Kelly was a Navy F-14 pilot before united. It was an eye opening discussion and he gave me the book Flying the line and told me I must read this, and made me agree to read it before I made a decision on this career. MiltoMajor123 you should read this, also to really see how bad management can be, read Frank Lorenzo the rise and fall of eastern, this will show you the very reason ALPA is so important and never trust what management says, they always spin it to benefit them!!

MiltoMajor123,
Busbusbaby's advice is solid. Especially, the book recommendation: Flying the Line (parts 1 & 2). Might I also suggest: Confessions of a Union Buster...
Having transitioned from the military myself, I wish I would've read those three books sooner.
Welcome to the line!

Exactly! But if you have a broken crayon and the kid next to you has a fresh crayola with the gliter infused, don't settle for the broken one... especially when the teacher claims she can't afford it and then drives away in a new Range Rover.

Let me put it a different way. Imagine you're in a room full of coworkers for a class/meeting/whatever. Look around. Did you spot the guy with the funny red hair, oversized shoes, polka dot outfit, and corsage that sprays water? No? Then it's likely you.
In this case, it's you.
In this case, it's you.
