Do you think that you would have ever negotiated $251/hr with VX management? Most of y'all are going to get 15% (2010 hires and later). Hate to sound like puzzle palace but was your total compensation better than Alaskan pilots? I would venture to guess not. A huge windfall for all y'all, for sure.
You are stoned......The only Alaska Captains that make that kind of money are the same group of two-bit VSA *****s that helped us get the deplorable contract that we now have. At 18 plus years with 11 in the left seat I have never earned more than 200K. Add the “year-long interest-free loan” to that and I hit just under 220K. No premium(ever), no open time pick up ,fly line value ,14 to 15 days off a month......That is the real story. And on top of that it is W2 over TAFB....and on that score we are in last place

As to the windfall, I beg to differ. There's more to it than payrates and let's face it...your trips suck, I've seen 'em. We can chat over a Seattle's Best latte sometime. It has been an eyeopener for many VA folks too over the last year talking to AS peeps. On my commutes I have been have stunned to learn just how hard it is to make money on your side without killing yourself. But I like to take it easy, me. Maybe some folks like flying 17 days a month.

How bout we focus on the important thing which is both sides have some really good stuff and bring a lot to the table. Time to focus on the future and finding a way to work as one to bring in a tide that lifts all the boats, eh?
You asked for W2s and you’ve received. True, our pairings and lines suck. Oh, and before you bring up PBS, know one thing. PBS will not work here as long as puzzle palace has a heart beat. From top down, all the way to crew planning and crew scheduling, they suck but you already knew that. I’m not here to divide and conquer like this management group but some of y’all VX brethrens act like VX was some career legacy or something. VX offered a great product but couldn’t turn a profit until last year. What’s the general consensus at VX? Do most of y’all feel that you’d be better off had VX stayed independent? Why do y’all think that your beloved CEO and shareholders sold the airline. Windfall? You betcha! No pilot at Alaskan wanted this merger. Truth hurts. I feel for the junior folks, especially junior FOs here at Alaskan. Sorry, I don’t sugar coat turd.
You’re absolutely right about focusing on the future. Alaskan pilots have been dealt a bad hand. I hope that we can all accept our place in life and work together to achieve a fair SLI.

No, we can’t get stoned here legally unlike you Gig Harbor crowd.
As for making $300K, you are right. Premium/VSA crowd were who I was referring to. Pop some happy pills before you have a stroke there buddy.

I don’t think any VX pilot is on this forum bragging about how great VX is and how it’s on par with the legacies. I’ve noticed its out of defense from some of the AS guys talking about how VX won some sort of lottery with this acquisition. While AS had a contract and slightly better rates, it definitely wasn’t a jackpot. If Vx did win the lottery, it was off a $1 scratcher, not Mega Millions.

With your attitude I had you pegged for a Mchordite, a QX convict or a Legacy Brat.
As usual I was wrong. However, the approach you are taking with your fellow pilots is suspect. Assuming you are none of the above, than you failed to look hard at the airli e you hired on with. Alaska Airlines is an illusion propped up by pilots with egos. It will be refreshing to welcome hundreds of pilots to our ranks who are not vested in the “Illusion”. I look forward to it.

I like that. We should get some bag tags that say “not vested in the illusion”.

Can someone explain how guys hired in 2007 are senior to guys hired in 2006 on Virgins list? How did that happen. Things that make you go hummm. DOH is the gold standard!

When and how will seniorities be combined, ie dove tailed? What is Captain upgrade once seniorites are merged? Just curious.

You do that. I think I'll go with "hired not acquired" sticker.

The "jackpot" has to do with the new pay rates and total compensation. Did the VX pilots score? Yeah, big time. There are no Mega Million airline careers as we all know. It wasn't too long ago that the big boys started making decent money. The pendulum is constantly swinging. It's great that you've moved on to greener pastures but remember, when the pendulum swings the other way, the big boys go down harder. Let's all hope that the pendulum doesn't swing too far.
