I just flew with a guy involved in the screening of resumes and applications. He scoffed when I floated the notion of doing away with the college requirement. I think they are likely to reduce the PIC turbine requirement long before college.
During the NW Aviation Conference keynote speech Alaska said the degree requirement was being reviewed and most likely dropped by June due to the fact there are people they want to hire but cant touch due to the degree requirement.

I think it's important to qualify this statement. They are reviewing it but if anyone is considering not getting a degree, that's not the right answer. Someone involved in hiring told me the idea here is that they are legally required to hire within the minimums. But as an example there was a Captain's son who is an A320 Captain at Virgin and working on a degree but they had to wait for him to finish the degree to call him. Another was a guy who had a 4-year eduction in some sort of trade school but not a degree and they said the general idea was to see if someone could complete something and do it well so excluding him doesn't make sense. I expect to see it changed to an Associate's degree but it's for the rare exception, not an overall lowering of competitive minimums. The Chief Pilots seem to recognize that having a 4-year degree doesn't make you a good pilot or employee necessarily.

I hear 10-20 a month until further notice. 200 next year seems about right. As for LAX, we just announced Central America. It's likely to flown by LAX crews but that's just a guess.

Initially by LAX crews until crew planning, with a strong arm twisting by the SEA boys, determines that it is more "efficient" for SEA and PDX crews to fly them-kind of like rest of the layovers in resort towns. BIG growth for LAX! Just wait until Vision 2010 is implemented and the MDs go away.

Interview Prep
Made it through the Alaska interview process. I was reluctant to invest in some professional interview prep. After enough friends that just recently made it on at other majors suggested I not have any regrets I made a quick google search for a company. Centerline Interview Consulting came up... (https://www.centerlineinterviewprep.com/)
I currently live in Chicago and after a couple quick calls I was set up with an in-person prep session on short notice that worked with my flying schedule. The backgrounds of the 2 guys, Keith Steele & Blake Ridgeway, I worked with are diverse and beyond qualified to help you feel confident. They have great access of up to date gouge and really helped me add structure to what I wanted to convey in an interview. They were sure to follow up with me even after the in-person prep with phone calls and emails that supplemented any worries I had about any aspect of the interview. Really glad I had them in my corner as I set out to get my dream job with my number one choice. It definitely helped take some of the pressure off. I hope you'll at least take a look at what they are offering when that call comes your way from any Airline you're hoping for.
