Why would I give up on a position that could potentially help me during the SLI? You're saying I'm miserable and that I want to downgrade it's not the case. I just say things you don't like to hear and you are extremely reactive. You should really consider chilling out a bit. Why so fiesty?

I wasn't able to catch the Q3 call but during the Q2 call managment told us no hiring until Q4 2025. That was before the Boeing strike and while I don't like it Boeing has only delivered 1 MAX aircraft this month total for all airlines. Nearly all of Boeing MAX suppliers have furloughed or laid off employees. Even if the vote Wednesday at BA brings workers back it will take months to get production back on track. With the FAA doubling down on production rate reduction on top of all of the other issues. It's hardly a strech to say that Q4 2025 there wont be any hiring either. It's 3 months difference and the BA strike has created at least that much delay on production.

We simply can not get aircraft. We were supposed to get 5 additional aircraft by the years end and I doubt that will happen. Not to mention the 15 next year. We will likely continue to get rid of the early 900s. The math backs all this up. We have the same size fleet today in 2024 as we did on the same day in 2019. It's misleading to anyone who would like to get hired at AS to say we are growing because we simply are not. Not by tails and new hires will be forced into a lot more redeyes than even now if we "grow" via aircraft utilization.

You never know, if that back side of the clock utilization gets bad enough you may be correct about having to hire for attrition. Being at the bottom of the list and covering a never ending supply of red eye trips is exhausting. It's a shame nothing could be done for the mostly junior pilots who are forced into these trips. Like a red eye override. We'll get them next time?

Nothing you’re saying is wrong the issue is you’re dealing with folks with significantly less time on property than you and age. For them it’s mostly ok, to be fair it’s been the same at a lot of the airlines I’ve worked at to include my
current employer.

It absolutely is constructive if you took the time to read and understand. You say you know we’ve got some work to do… you wouldn’t know that if it wasn’t being put out there. That’s why when Alaska went first on the negotiations the best they got was an average up that was so well sold by the union (which the union is literally the pilot group) and not a true snap up like United and Delta have. The rates that the entire industry has currently is because of Delta and that’s not even trying to put them on a pedestal, I could go on for hours about how jacked up this new contract is that we have but it’s pointless because it’s what the majority wanted. It’s a classic we’ll get em next time argument by every darn airline, anyways you’ll take this personally and make some personal dig I’m sure and say why I’m here blah blah blah and that’s great I don’t care just like you don’t.

If you work here and say something these guys don't like they get super reactive and go for personal insults right away. Even if you show your work. There really are the same number of aircraft today that are flown by AS seniority list pilots as there were in 2019.

If you work here and say something these guys don't like they get super reactive and go for personal insults right away. Even if you show your work. There really are the same number of aircraft today that are flown by AS seniority list pilots as there were in 2019.
I promise you that it’s at least the same attitude at the current shop lol.

100%

I went to a training event that had a lot of pilots from a lot of different airlines. Each pilot there represented an airline that had sent me a TBNT. They were all complaining. lol

SWA is in the exact same stagnation situation that we are. Likely for just as long as the MAX 7 may take another 2 years. However we have to deal with the SLI and I don't think it will create much opportunity for anyone in the short term.

It could push things out past the MAX 7 time horizon.
