It is far from perfect but this idea that the grass is so much greener is a tired argument, especially from those unwilling to leave Alaska and would rather just endlessly complain.

That's funny. I distinctly remember downgrades during the Airbus reductions.

That had literally nothing to do with COVID.

There's a big difference between those who make the best of things, for better or worse, and those who want to live in a Pollyanna delusion.

Right now, with hiring picking back up at the majors and Alaska still crippled by its deadbeat aircraft partner, the grass does appear to be greener.

Yes. The internet rumors at the time were 400 furloughs.

I found out years later from excellent authority that the FLOPS VP was planning on 1000. Apparently union went over his head to BM of all people (or maybe BT?) and sold them on alternatives.

Lots of credit to the union and also management for getting creative on that.

That is true. The union did, in fact, go directly to BM and ST.

Incorrect; we did not furlough.

Yup, remember that time and sadly regret a lot of the decisions I made on hearing about it. Sold a boat load of toys to stick even more into savings for what I thought was inevitable. Coulda made a lot more today had I just waited. O well onward and upward.

It’s considerably greener! If people would have left when they could have they’d all be much better off seniority wise than staying at Alaska. I took a monumental risk in leaving but everyone I know who left around my seniority and around the same time has done considerably better by making that tough decision.

My schedule begs to differ.
