Do recs from Horizon FOs carry any weight at AS (IE count as internal for AAG)?

Thanks!
I've been told yes. First, because it shows interest. It shows you're interested and really want the job (something they really like). Second, just because you might not be qualified when you submit your app, the requirements could change real time. You just never know. Third, you'll know what to expect and be even more prepared when the next window opens up.

Bumped this as the deadline is closing in. Can anyone tell me if the app is only one page? Or is it a "can't go any further" process if you checked something they didn't like on the first page.

Haven't done the app this time because I'm starting class but it's gone through various phases in the past. One time it had a page 1 that had you put in some basic info and then asked about 10 simply yes/no questions. It would not let you continue if you clicked the wrong answer to things like "I possess a 4-year degree from an accredited College/University" or "I have used tobacco products in the last year" etc. Did it allow you to paste in a resume and such already? If so, I believe it's probably a 1-page app this time. Alaska is trending more this direction, using the Apps as only a small part of the process to get an interview (job fairs, meet and greets, etc).

My bad. I guess I need to do more preflights. In that case the answer is "Alaska Airlines" . My apologies for wise ass remark then. Not afraid to admit I'm wrong.

No worries. I just thought it was funny that your wise ass comment missed the mark. I even googled a pic of the plane to make sure the plane didn't say airline or air or anything else. I'm so busy looking for ramp rash and any sign of ice under the wing, I'm not paying attention to the paint job.

Default Alaska Air Hiring

For those of you looking for interview prep I highly recommend Rainier Flight Service at Renton field. It's Hands down the best prep service for the Alaska interview.

Does anyone know roughly how long upgrade will be for someone getting hired at Alaska today?

Is it a younger or older group?

How many projected new hires this year?

Thanks!

The most junior captain spot awarded is 9 years (or so)... That's today. In the future, who knows? My two cents is that it will come down a bit, maybe 7-8 years due to the bubble in hiring 2009-2011'ish and then climb back up again due to the sheer amount of people we've been hiring recently. Your guess is as good as mine for someone hired today. Regardless of upgrade time the future at Alaska is bright...

Why can't we submit LOR's and cover letters this go-around? Anyone else having this problem? I'm getting frustrated with their application process. In the time since the last application window, I've accrued two more internal LORs both from guys I fly a 737 with in the Navy and now I can't submit them.

Also, is anyone copying/pasting their cover letter on top of their resume in that little text box we're supposed to put our resume in? Again, I wish I could attach my actual cover letter and resume to the application website. But that seems to be off limits this time.

If this is where you want to be, be patient and persistent. Just put your resume in the text box. Your cover letter and LORs are not needed on the website.

Bottom line is don't think the cover letter and LORs posted on the application will get you an interview, much less the job. Your friends who fly here need to take you in to meet a chief pilot, or you need to meet them at a job fair. That will trigger someone looking at a cover letter and LORs.
