Alaska Air Hiring
#7651
Best guess, the training department has been clogged up with airbus transition pilots for several months, since they just parked all the A321's. You would not be the only one who got impatient and pursued other options.
But they should be about done with airbus people, and they've said they're hiring many hundreds. I don't know how many applicants are waiting in the wings, or how long it might take to get around to them. I would think not too long, they're short FO's.

Hello all, I applied 7 weeks ago, had a meet and greet with a Seattle base Chief Pilot right away that went really well. But then radio silence. I've had a friend who's an Alaska Airlines pilot sponsor me with HR (there's an official process for that.) I still haven't gotten a call to interview and I'm wondering if there's anything left that I can do. Is my lack of 121 and jet time that much of a hurdle or do I just need to stay patient? I have 6500 TT, 4100 METPIC, college degree, instructor pilot at my current job and previous airline and companines and a bunch of other special mission qualifications. Alaska is my top choice but my timeline for the next few months makes me wonder if it's time to start pursuing number 2 and 3 on my personal list.

FWIW to those in limbo,
-Submitted app April 23 via internal link from an Alaska pilot, do this vs general link if you can.
-App status changed in June to under review
-Didn’t hear anything but signed up for the Meet the Chiefs in August 23. Sat down with Portland CP and go over my resume and ask questions. Mini Q&A...why Alaska and tell me about yourself. From there some people were getting the recommendation to interview.
-interviewed September 23, CJO day of, July 24 avail.
Most interviewing were available within 2 months and we were all given DEC/JAN class dates...just a placeholder for me. The stated trend from hiring dept was expect an interview 2-3 months before availability if you meet the hiring mins. Goal in September for "2024 hiring" was 600 pilots but that’s probably going to be reeled in as mentioned above with the market trends. They were optimistic though with transitions finishing up in Nov.
Our interview group was split about half mil have civ with I think a 7/12 selection rate. The non-mil who got the nod were 2 skywest and 1 allegiant and had ATP mins, all had probably 3 years flying with them. Most if not all had recently been to a MTC or Meet and Greet at a conference. The mil pilots who made it were helo bubbas and I may have been the only fixed wing.
No ATP, MEI, CFI/CFII
Total Time: 1962
Turbine: 1941
ME Turbine: 1858
PIC: 937
Posting this data because it's hard to find data on people who recent went through the hiring machine. From what I hear it's good to have an internal hiring link and a MTC under your belt with an active application.

I would assume they are trying to sniff out those who might actually be inclined to stay, vice those looking for a type rating on the resume, or to get out from under regional metering.

True story - guy I was mentoring. Had wanted to fly for AA since he was a kid. AA gave him a CJO. Delta called. He wasn't going to go there. Why bother, AA had given him a CJO and a class date would follow shortly? I said "go talk to Delta. AA's promise is like a girl at a bar saying she'll be back next week. Uh-uh, we're talking about tonight! Another girl walks over...you holding out for next week's promise or going to deal with today first???" He went to DL. AA started taking back a bunch of furloughs and AA didn't contact him for over a year. He said it was tough turning down AA because for maybe 30 yrs that had been his goal. "But it didn't make any sense to quit DL by then. Delta was too good to me to go to AA and start over." Bingo.

Go with whoever calls you. Don't wait for Alaska. That call may never come.

If you know any pilots at Alaska, get them to refer you and talk to their CP about you. That will get you the interview.
