I spoke with him. At least I am pretty sure, in Kona. He wasn't under 40. Was around 50 IIRC. His plan was to bid SFO 73 at UA. The upgrade was pretty quick at the time. Cool guy. Had some serious concerns and was not happy about how he had been treated at AS. Seemed like a solid guy. Not the kind of person that I would label as a "complainer". I enjoyed speaking with him and I wish him the best at his new employer. He had a legitimate plan for a better career and while it wasn't without risk it seemed like a good plan.

Latest internal training guidance for instructors has Airbus training for new hires throughout 2023. A seat and domicile bid is closing tomorrow that will produce significant Airbus FO vacancies that will be filled by new hires. This in addition to at least 45 currently unfilled Airbus FO vacancies. Aircraft assignment is seniority based in class. If you are junior you are going to the aircraft and base that you can hold…You will also be reduced off the Airbus if that is where you end up and go through another aircraft training cycle while on probation. During all of 2023 we will have reduction and displacement bids occurring. Once we are single-fleet we will stagnate for a period and on the heels of that PBS implementation will cause further stagnation. Last, the recruiters, wether they are HR or pilots are almost always uninformed or informed along a talking point that has little to do with reality…..
If at all possible to answer, how many folks would you estimate per new hire class will go into the airbus?
