I applied in May and didn’t hear anything until I went to a meet and greet in late Sep. But my times were not very competitive, low TT and 0 121. Things moved quickly after the meet and greet.

You completely missed the point.
Yes his priorities are great, but if EVERYONE took that tack, we'd have no viable military service as you get no choice but to leave home for longer periods of time.
Since he has the choice, I too agree that he has made a valid decision.
Beautiful thing about this career is there is a trip, path, plane, location, schedule, or company for everyone.

How is commuting at Alaska? I may be getting an interview soon and I'm considering my options. I live near MKE. There are direct flights to SEA I could hop on.
This would be temporary. I do intend on moving back out west one day.

You’ll need to give yourself 2 flights to get to work, so I’d make the drive to ORD to check that box since there’s tons of frequency. Signing up for commuter status will put you at the top of the non-rev list going to and from work which makes things a bit easier.

While on the jumpseat, an Alaska FO told me that despite multiple internal recommendations and a check airman bugging the chief pilot on a regular basis on his behalf, it took three years for him to get an interview at Alaska.
That's how much Alaska appreciates your effort to get their attention.
Good luck.

To tack on…JS are first come, first serve. With the new CBA, we will be able to list electronically for the FDJS and pilots will be last to be booted off in the case of a weight restriction.
