Pay parity with the major airlines….”Me too” clauses. Sounds fairytale nice. Right now we are struggling to get LPP’s that are currently in place at Spirit, Jetblue and Frontier. We are struggling to get scheduling and PBS language that they have. We are for the first time getting acknowledgement from Alaska that pilots commute…Alaska Airlines is going to offer substantial staffing adj. leaves to FA’s starting in Sept until next summer…FA movement has always been a signal of direction here…Ben still uses the word “Deal” when talking publicly about the pilot contract…Like a sleazy real estate agent or car salesman. He is very comfortable with the rates of hiring and attrition….It is a great, non-believers purge in his and the rest of corporates mind. The focus by corporate has moved on to single fleet superiority and the significant savings coming with it.
We have the best chance at a better contract than we have ever had. We have the right people at the front line fighting for it. Eventually they will have to produce a TA. For any of them or any of us to believe that it is going to “knock it out of the park”…That would be fairytale like..

Then I'll be voting NO until they knock it out of the park....

Alaska management is sh*tting themselves because they know what's coming down the pike. They are desperate to lock in 18% because they know after the big 3 get deals next year they'll have to pay 30%.

But as long as there are suckers who yell "TAKE IT!" at the first opportunity, then we'll always be one step behind.
You might want to call your union rep and have a chat. Literarily everything you are saying and worried about is false. Put yourself at ease and call, they are working hard to put the protections in place so we don’t fall behind again.

A snap up clause that copies work rules, DC, and soft time? Absolutely. Sign me up.

But getting a one-time bump while the Big 3 play leapfrog next year, sounds underwhelming at best.

And everyone will complain how Alaska management is so cunning. They were able to pull one over on those poor pilots again.
We'll have no one to blame but ourselves.

Honestly, I feel like the union is just gaslighting us at this point.

Every podcast is full of “Just know this is contract YOU wanted. The one that YOU asked for” etc etc.

I’m really curious what they come up with when the language comes out, because after talking to reps at a couple SEA coffee sits I’m not optimistic.

Fixed the last word for you! The union guys are being straight with you vs telling you that everything you want and desire is being packaged up with a big bow on top, They are also not saying it’s what “YOU” want. It’s what the pilot group as a whole has expressed through polling, emails, phone calls and the such. Quit using an anonymous board to try and undermine them. Email your rep and have it out with them if you feel your being “gas lighted.” Lol.

We'll all see soon enough. Just know this, that if we TA before the big 3, we're leaving money and benefits on the table.

Maybe the majority at Alaska is okay with that. It wouldn't surprise me.

I’ve e-mailed/talked to them enough and haven’t been impressed. Did you miss me mentioning the coffee sits?

I just think they’re starting to sound like a broken record, much like the company when they tout how prepared they are for the next SEA snow.

Thankfully, the union had the foresight to help improve our schedules and work out 3rd step. Thank goodness they really held the company’s feet to the fire to get that implemented in a timely manner. I can’t wait to see how they ensure all our new CBA tidbits get put into action. We might finally have it all up and running by the time we’re voting on the next CBA in 10 years.

You sound really smart on negotiations and the complexities of CBA language. I hope you volunteer your time to help out next go around! Heck, you’ve even been to two coffee sits! I imagine it’s really easy pleasing 3300 pilots on every issue. But you’ve got the “right stuff!”

likewise

Edit: I’ll just ask. Can you explain why we don’t have new uniforms or third step?
