To be fair, the initial number doesn't mean much as long as there's a snap up clause right?

It depends on the language. How much of a horizon or a % limitation. How many times can we snap? Not only that, but this doesn't account for QOL gains that we won't be able to copy.

It's a strategic blunder to have waited 3 years of stalled negotiations, now to be cramming it through just before UAL and DAL get their TAs done.

You'll forgive me if I don't trust your opinion in these matters. You've got a long track record of working harder for less, and being proud of it.
If United's Tumi TA was at $327, and the company is "allegedly" at $300, then it seems like they're still stuck on the "Alaska Discount" philosophy.

QOL, Schedule Flexibility, and Scope are hugely important, and I'm sure the NC is championing the cause on those fronts, but wrt to pay rates, "NO MORE DISCOUNTS!!".

No. You never know if the next asteroid impact, nuclear war, etc is around the corner. Wait long enough and you'll be negotiating while they furlough. Times are good, lock it in.

I’m not sure anyone trusts anything he says. It’s been a big drawn out thing for years. Merger here, merger there... heck, mergers everywhere! I think out of all the crazy things he’s ever said, one was right (maybe). It’s also astonishing how he knows all this confidential merger talk, and then all the contract negotiations info, but nothing ever comes to light. I’m not holding my breath… I’m sure this guy has been saying the same thing for the last thirty years.

Implausible.

Inflation adjust of the old ARBITRATED and DISCOUNTED rate is about $313. Company probably knows that coming in under inflation is an automatic failed TA and and a new CEO. The CEO will throw money at the pilots for only one reason: to save his own arse, and it looks like he's in checkmate for that now.

Pretty sure the NC is shooting for more than inflation

You're well trained. This is exactly the fear mongering that gets the Alaska Discount through the vote decade after decade.

Like I said, the devil is in the details. And given ALA ALPA's previous contracts, they tend to let loopholes slide. I expect an Alaska Contract "me too" clause to be very limited. It would be better to wait.

BS. I said get all of the goodies NOW, and protect pay with a me too clause. You're the one advocating years more of alaska discount with NO CONTRACT, likely followed by eventually negotiating in a downturn.

How long do you want to wait? Five years? How about eight, even better, you can piggyback off the NEXT legacy cycle. Why settle for this cycle

UAL is 2 months away from TA2. DAL is right behind them. AAL is giving pay raises to match outside of negotiations.

Alaska management is sh*tting themselves because they know what's coming down the pike. They are desperate to lock in 18% because they know after the big 3 get deals next year they'll have to pay 30%.

But as long as there are suckers who yell "TAKE IT!" at the first opportunity, then we'll always be one step behind.

What don't you understand about a snap up clause? If you don't think it's strong enough then vote no, and tell your friends to vote no.
