Alaska Air Hiring
#6721
Alaskan is airline number 8 for me. It is my worst from QOL, days off, management adversarial relationship with crew, morale stand point. Do I get paid more than the others? Yep. I still wish I was at my last 2 carriers instead of this place. A new contract will help but this place ain’t changing its stripes that easily. Im an Alaska brat that was acquired not hired because my Pops told me not to ever work here. He was right. I’m nearly 60 so I’ll reluctantly be staying.

Our Union published a fantastic document, a contract comparison. It was extremely helpful to quantify just exactly how things are. APC is sadly mostly opinion and almost completely devoid of fact. Anyone considering coming to work for our operation should find our contract comparison document.

Have had an app in for a few months. Currently a 135 Captain on a light jet, sitting at about 2,100 TT with 800 jet, 665 of that PIC. Worried my very low TT is holding me back, any guys getting picked up sub 2,500? I imagine trying to secure a meet and greet would be the way to go?

Some think the grass is greener on the other side, but never look over the fence.
Have you read the Delta, American, SW, and even United boards now on this site? They all seem just as miserable with their management & how the company is being.
Heck I chatted with a senior American captain at the airport the other day, and he was looking to bail. Said he was just miserable with the company…

I left alaska for greener legacy turf and it truly was eye opening how much better it can be. Pilots complaining is an industry standard. The things UA, DL, and AA pilots complain about would seem trivial at Alaska. That senior AA captain has no clue what it’s like at Alaska.

😂 United was pretty much a done deal a few months ago. Before that WN was a done deal. Then, BM was wearing a Hawaiian hat, so that obviously means HA is a done deal. Too funny. One thing I can always count on is a good story. Another thing I can always count on is none of what you say coming true.
edit to add, probably to keep the ones on the fence here actually.. the 3-5year range.

Similarly to how many suffer through a bad marriage because of the kids, or the fear of losing everything financially, etc, some may decide that they run the risk of losing too much if they leave AS (seniority for vacation, or bidding for example, especially with the hope of a decent contract on the horizon).
