The answer is bases. Alaska is the only airline with bases in PDX and ANC. Also in SEA the only options are Alaska or DAL.

Also…. That’s a MIGHTY shift from some sort of UAL deal by Nov. Here’s a number…. 99%….. Your greatest predictive probability is now for absolutely zero change, which falls in line with both the history of ALK as well as what 99% of us on here as well as the rank and file would’ve predicted.

Hiring Minimums
Have had an app in for a few months. Currently a 135 Captain on a light jet, sitting at about 2,100 TT with 800 jet, 665 of that PIC. Worried my very low TT is holding me back, any guys getting picked up sub 2,500? I imagine trying to secure a meet and greet would be the way to go?

Flying under our old contract at Alaska:
I drive to work every day
Work daytime hours
have a fully funded A-plan for my retirement
Have worked without furlough for 20+ years w/o scope
8/5/22 check gross for 2022 so far is 331,XXX
Dude when we get a new contract shortly, it’s gonna be even worse. This place is terrible, go somewhere else!
People at the same airlines have different careers, this is not as cut and dry as you think. There is no, one size fits all. A lot of parity is coming to this industry. Timing will always be very important. If you don’t live on the west coast though, there are way better options then Alaska Airlines for you right now. If you live in one of our bases, I bet you will be ok!

Obviously, Never… Pretty stupid question. Go to FDX or UPS, everyone there is happy.

You know the difference between you and the rest of us? We look at a mirror and see us, then a window and see the rest of the world. You can't tell the difference between the two.

So somebody would apply to Alaskan because of what your arrogant a$$ gets under old contract? A-plan? Are you serious?

Sorry, I am just telling you what I know, have seen, or suspect. I don’t sugarcoat, just give you what I got. WH, DOJ, and the DOT are hostile to any airline industry consolidation. There is still a relatively strong chance of UA or HA, but yes slightly more likely is independence. This industry is trying to gets its legs back underneath, post Covid. Things are definitely very dynamic, I think “zero change” always has the highest probability at a mature company. November will be here before you know it. We should have a contract, and that river card will turn, hoping for the best for all of us.
