Alaska Air Hiring
#6591
They probably won't close it any time soon, many of those local pilots would just bail to UA. So they can't plan on closing it to use the pilots elsewhere, at least not for more than however long it takes for UA to hire them and give them class dates.

The company announced they will open the SFO 7373 base in three system bids of +/- 50 pilots for a total of around 150. We’ve had one bid award and should see the second system bid here in a couple of weeks. No word on that number being revised but like others have posted, if they can’t keep up with attrition, they will probably have to either grab crews from LAX or make it a smaller base. Worse case they close the base. The Bay Area is their biggest growth potential market, so I do believe they want to grow it but the question remains if they can hire and retain enough pilots to do it. Time will tell.
good info. Thx dude

That couldn't be farther from the truth. I mean it couldn't be farther from reality if you said AS was simply closing its doors. It is the only base that has mass potential for growth. SEA is at capacity and we have SFO, OAK, and SJC lying in wait. SFO isn't going to close.

Know this….. what you hear and are told in the recruiting and interview phase, has a life span less than a Mayfly. Not a lot you can hang your hat on here…. But THAT…. You can write in Heaven and stomp it in hell as the truth.

Dude come on in, the water is fine. Too many people on here that have nothing better to do but complain. We’re a contract away from better work rules, that is coming in short time. Is it over due? Yes, but it’s coming. Otherwise it’s a great place to work with really good people.

Friend in my class is Phoenix and he bid for Seattle for ease of commuting on our own planes since we don't do PHX LA. The commute is a little longer but it makes getting a ride to work easier.
