Anyone know how much hiring they are still planning on doing throughout summer?

Almost unknowable. We are in the process of closing down the Airbus fleet. Those big reduction cause lots of displacement which causes bumping. This process will take a couple years to work itself out. Junior pilots in both seats in all bases will feel the brunt of displacing a more senior group. The efficiency of single fleet will also cause reductions in reserve staffing which is an indirect displacement of its own. Lots of junior pilot stagnation coming. The coming single fleet will be a negative for the pilot group for a few years

Y’all are truly unbelievable…
God you're a baby - who's "bullying" you?? You should really tell an adult!

Look, all I tried to do here was show a different more positive perspective in a hiring thread for potential new hires…

Sorry I rained on y’alls parade with that.

To those interested in Alaska that have PM’d me over the last few weeks, asking for help with interview pointers & questions….glad I could help out, Congrats and welcome aboard.

Otherwise i’m out now y’all, you can have this forum.

Peace.

It's a pretty bad place to work. No kidding.

I’m sure Alaska has a number of QOL issues, their total compensation could be better when compared with other majors, etc. There’s plenty of info on this thread about improvements that could be made. But I work at Skywest, we have the exact same issues, and make 1/2 to 1/3 of the pay. Alaska is still a big step up, as some others mentioned in this forum

I wouldn’t count on that, pay and 401k for sure, the rest, likely the same or worse.

Most new hires are getting Seattle, but there have been classes where some got PDX and ANC in training. Just depends on what the company needs at that particular moment. Sounds like the SFO 737 base is going to be relatively junior as well...

It's a question of degrees, but they're both bad, as you acknowledged.

If you went over to AS, it sounds like you know better and wouldn't go down that road. I bet you however, that there are a few who will look at the situation and decide that they don't need to participate in the fight for an industry standard contract because, well, "Alaska is a big step up".

Thanks for the info! Any idea if they are going to continue interviews/hiring throughout summer?
