I would imagine it’s likely to slow down, if not stop altogether. There’s a lot of displacements on their way with the accelerated Airbus returns, those will likely leave faster than they are replaced. I would expect most of the junior upgrades on the last bid will find themselves back in the right seat in pretty short order, the downstream effects will probably result in less need for new hires.

Take this however you want, but I was just in the school house and word around there is that classes will continue throughout summer. The instructors said that usually hiring stops during summer to have them out flying the line, but not this year.

Not sure. Just a guess, if they want to hire as many as they said they want then the app window may as well be left open all the time. The big 3 use Airlineapps or Pilotcredentials and they're pretty much constantly open. I don't even know why we do windows. Just leave the links open and let the apps come in?

I honestly don’t begrudge anyone coming here if they want, but understand this is about to become one of if not the most stagnant airlines out there. The company has revised their “growth plan” downward to 1-3% and that might be optimistic based on world events and the economy. There is some attrition but it’s off the bottom of the list and there are not many retirements. The Airbus is leaving in short order, that is going to displace several hundred captains and first officers. The junior captains in the 4-5 year range are going to be displaced. So I guess the chief pilots will have to brag about something else when our upgrade time starts looking more like Southwest’s.
Personally, I seriously doubt the max delivery schedule will occur as planned, Boeing doesn’t really inspire a ton of confidence right now. That wonderful 10 Max that was discussed on the last chief pilot call may not even get certified.

yeah it was just the 1 for 1 replacement with the MAXs won’t be enough to covers the airbuses leaving and the max 10 isn’t even certified yet so that’s where the speculation is for the “growth” as Alaksa short term may shrink in size as they can’t get MAXs fast enough
