Alaska Air Hiring
#5832
I am a new hired here and all this secretive information everyone passes back and forth isn't very helpful for us not in the know. Posting links and or references would go a long way, I didn't even know about the podcast that was just mentioned so now I am going to listen to it.
Simply complaining about something is of no help.

I am not happy about what’s being proposed and currently negotiated. Because of that I have contacted and talked to my reps, NC, SPC, and MEC. I have talked to many people that feel like me and you. But after talking to all those Union reps, many that I know personally. I have realized most people are to lazy to take the time to contact any or all the Union reps. They have not received significant feed back one way or the other from pilots, and straight from their mouths they want you to reach out and express your opinions. I have decided I will not sit by and accept what I don’t agree with. I have been engaged, I have volunteered to work the picketing event. The Union is me and you, the reps work for us. Posting here, not contacting reps directly, then skipping the picketing event makes you part of the problem not the solution. I hope you go, if you’re SFO based I really hope you go, after the 12% turn out on the last rep vote we need that base to step their game up. Being quiet, not participating in Union events, not communicating doesn’t give you the right to complain. Man up step or shut up.

Maybe you missed the part where I posted that I contacted various Reps before coming here and posting. I was SFO based and had a role within a part of our Union on the Airbus while I was still flying it albeit nothing to do with negotiating. I still did up until a week ago have a mostly small part doing some volunteer work but that’s over now after finding out what I did, so no this isn’t just some PO’d complaining pilot who’s not getting his way. I’ve spent considerable time trying to make this a better place and believed everything the union had to say up until recently. It’s time for a change which is ultimately moving onto somewhere else hopefully.
The Company offer was complete and utter garbage and sad that S.D. was so “proud of that offer”… you are now saying that ALPA is doing what?

So they're barely smarter than AA... they caught it BEFORE they let all of the pilots drop their Christmas trips.

Alaska Air warns on impact of higher fuel costs
Alaska Air Group (NYSE:ALK) warned that fuel prices have been volatile as a result of the conflict in Europe and Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
Due to the recent developments, the airline company said it now expects Q1 economic fuel cost to be $2.60 to $2.65 per gallon vs. a prior expectation of $2.45 to $2.50 per gallon.
"Given the sharp rise in fuel costs, we have slightly moderated our capacity outlook for the year, and now expect capacity to be down three percent to five percent in the first half of the year. We continue to plan for a return to 100% of pre-COVID capacity by summer followed by growth in the second half of the year, and will continue to prudently adjust capacity as necessary in response to the evolving fuel environment."
