Look I get that your experience in the airlines isn't very strong when it comes to unions. You've worked for a non-union carrier, and a (previously) feckless one.

So your examples of how labor relations work might not give you a lot of hope. But fly the contract. And if the company can violate the contract without penalty, then rewrite the enforcement mechanisms. All your soul-crushing complaints can be remedied by a single contract. We just need the cojones to negotiate for it.

Just to be clear I am absolutely on board to do whatever it takes to get the contract that you speak of.

I don’t see that happening until we are cleared to go on strike.

Until then I will continue to fly the contract.

Why is it that this strawman is constantly brought up when PBS is mentioned to L-AS pilots? This has never been, nor will it ever be, a serious proposition. Literally nobody has ever suggested using PBS under our current workrules or unsupported by contractual language.

Nothing would make me happier then going on strike for this airline.

They did the same at Horizon (they say) due to anticipated attrition. I don’t expect it to come back.

I think that’s why pilots are so afraid of change here at AS. Also the company would just violate the implementation LOA when PBS was set up.

I had PBS at SkyWest and it was great. But with how things are at AS it would just be used to hose us even harder than we get hosed now.

PBS has nothing to do with how crappy our scheduling QOL would be. I can't freaking stand that narrative. It's crappy now, why would we make it crappier? The assumption that change means bad is the sign of a submissive and battered pilot group. It is time to stop being victims and start getting what we need around here. You must be on the 737 because this is the exact same crap I hear from legacy AS pilots who have no prior real world airline experience (IE they came from the military or Horizon). This defeated, weak attitude is exactly how management wants you, and it is exactly why we have the absolute pile of crap we call a "CBA" right now. It is also exactly this mindset, that will cause us to fail in our attempts to actually fix things. It is time to get out of the stone age.

I’ve never had a chance to vote on anything and I’m standing here with a gas can and a pack of matches.

I didn’t think it could get any worse year one and well here we are. It’s much, much worse.

To be clear nothing would make me happier than burning this hole down to the ground. Even if it meant I had to look for another job. This place is so awful I wouldn’t mind starting at the bottom of the list someplace else even a regional. Also, it would give me great joy to see OTZ Eagle lose his pension.

Vacation trading is a contractual provision. They can't just take that away. What happened, apparently, is that they always released more vacation open days than required for the process of bidding vacations but after that was done, they left those extra days in the pool of vacation open days. They changed that practice and removed the days, to just what's required by the contractual minimum. Just clarifying that for any newbie reading, you can still do vacation trading with both open time and other pilots. Just that the pool has been depleted for when Nov 3 comes around. For some bases/seats, that was zero for a while before some days finally popped into open time.

What a unifying post. Divide and Conquer seems to have worked very well, VX pitted against AS. Most of the negative posts here are ex-VX.

How wrong of you to assume he is VX. Your ability to throw your former employer under the bus is unmatched.
