If you have any airline management experience you would understand. But I think you never managed an entity in your life. it's sad how little experience a lot of pilots have when it comes to running and sustaining a business. A growing and succeeding business will mean more money and better contract for its employees. One day you'll learn.

Hate to break it to you chief but financially Alaska has been wildly successful for a long time and this “better contract” you speak of has never come to fruition.
That said, you’re the perfect fit for Alaska champ, your naive thirst will be so quenched by the endless stream of corporate buzz words they will continually use to keep the troops at bay.
You’ll be on the fast track to base chief pilot so you can bend over the pilot group in no time slugger

The same individual is also all over the B6 forum spewing something about how all pilots are racist, sloppy, and lacking scientific degrees (apparently most FA’s have them). Interpret that as you will.

Yea this is how I feel about it. It's a long chess game. I'm moving to the West Coast wherever they stick me first and sit reserve in base. I never thought commuting at any airline was a sustainable lifestyle. I truly believe Alaska has a superior product compared to other airlines and thus be able to grow in the future.
What is sad is all the crusty guys complaining about Alaska but don't move on? Are you that much of a terrible pilot that you can't get to an airline you identify with or agree with in terms of pay and work rules?
There are 1000s of pilots wanting to be part of Alaska.

I’ve been here for over 3 years and I’m not exactly crusty but I can see the rust developing. I spent the money on airline apps and I’m hoping to get a call from United. They didn’t call me for years before so I’m not sure why they would call now. Hopefully I can get on the list for the chief pilot meet and greet. That seems to make the biggest difference.
If I’m still here trying to give people factual examples of what life is here it isn’t because I didn’t try to leave. I guess it means I’m a terrible pilot. I must have slipped through the cracks to get hired here however?

Sounds like he or she is likely one of the woke, falsely self important flight attendants that we all know and love. Sir/ma’am please kindly pipe down and get back to pouring diet Cokes and puffing your chest out while you run with the tiniest shred of power ever whilst enforcing mask usage.

Not sure what a retiring SWA pilot with 30+ years has to do with anything but a good contract with improvements is not the only thing that matters when you are picking an airline you are going to spend decades of your life at. Having the option to fly wide bodies should be a consideration and the QOL that can bring.
If we had the pay, contract and scheduling flexibility that SWA pilots enjoy your next 28 years may just be tolerable in the 737.

Hope things improve for y'all over there. Had a van ride to a crashpad once and one of the other guys was on the phone and said this is the worst f'n airline in the world. I thought he was talking about my (now) former regional, but nope, he flew for Alaska.
